commercialization and american ravers killed the dance music(note, not "electronica", fuck that word) scene.
bastards.
well, "dance", "eurodance" just reffer to a couple of styles of electronic music and aren't terms that reffer to all the genres.
"dance" & "eurodance" are terms that reffer to stuff that's borderline pop/house & pop/trance.
back in the 90's it was mainly pop/house with such groups as Culture Beat, Haddaway, 2 Unlimited, Masterboy, etc...
these days it's mainly pop/trance with such groups as Lasgo, Ian Van Dahl, Sylver, Milk Inc, etc...
although the term "electronica" is actually a generic term that's primarily used to reffer to all genres of electronic music... there's just the problem with alot of people that think it's an actual genre itself and use it as such.
i myself though when i do want to reffer to 'all genres' then yes i do use the term 'electronica', but when i'm reffering to a particular genre/sub-genre then i'll call it by it's actual name....
however, then there's the problem where, depending on where you live, people have different names for the same type of music.
for instance i listen to a style of electronic music that's called "retro", but alot of times people will call it "electrowave" or "electroclash"... bah!
P.S. "dance" is commercialized electronic music.
