GC: Smash Bros Melee, Is Pincess Peach overpowered?

Greetings everyone,
A group of my friends play Smash Bros Melee quite often, and they always make fun of of one of them who always plays as Princess Peach. Is she unbalanced to the point that you would consider her cheap or overpowered? Coincidently, Someone brought up a point that I already had in mind. Doesn't it make sense that they would overpower the character that everyone's little sister would obviously choose, just to make the battle fair? I'm not going to seriously dog my friend on the subject unless everyone's opinions stand clear that she is cheap. So assuming that you play Smash Bros because you are reading this thread, whast do you think?

My friend always used to use Peach. She definately has some advantages although I'd have to say the game is pretty balanced. If she is overpowered not sure if it would be on purpose.

Yes she is overpowered by a long shot, I was very surprised she turns out to be the winner if you keep watching the CPU go at it on 9 (setting which the character AI goes highest).

I wonder if it was meant to be a joke or was it to see how far they can take her? Her floating ability alone is a life saver and her smash with the frying pan always keeps people at a good distances when trying to break out of a corner. Always a sure fire winner when in the mix.

Yeah, I agree that she is top teir in SSBM. She is my favourite character in the Mario universe so I play her, but she is somewhat cheap. Her smash attacks deal massive damage and have virtually no recovery time at all. She's quick and has a good up+B to get back on the boards. Not that it is the most skillful game ever made, but when playing with people who know what they are doing, Peach can be a real bitch :mad:

peach powerful?

i must have overlooked this... None of my friends and I ever choose her because we considered her weak and useless..

i must relook Peach....I honestly thought she sucked...

How is she overpowering... Her smash attack is all?

Yes, she ia pretty damn overpowered (well when compared with people like Bowser). Just use her down + A in a crowd of ppl and watch as they all take about 50% damage. It is pretty insane. Although she has trouble finishing off people, it is really hard to get close enough to her to kill her.

Man, fuck all you all (ResoGlas). I am the Peach he speaks of and I do not play cheaply. I played as Kirby and kicked ass for years with people complaining that his floating ability was cheap, but now that Kirby's not winning any matches nobody's crying. Change to a character whose physics work for you or start training with what you got 'cause the better fighter always wins. . . . . Me.

I played Peach in ALL-STAR MODE and was amazed that I only got to use ONE heart container!!! I only used her Parasol UP+B move and was able to K.O. an opponent immediately!!!

But I pretty much like using everybody... I like Jigglypuff's (*hides*) Rest attack too... Instant K.O.!!!... :p

I think Peach is very overpowered.
i myself use: Ness, Ice Climbers, and Game and Watch.

Eveyone always underestimates em...:glee:
