Thought: How many versions of Lion King is Disney going to put out?!

Man. I just saw commercials for yet ANOTHER Lion King DVD. Lion King 1 1/2 or something of the point. It's getting crazy over here. I mean, it's one thing for a company to put out a lot of versions of a game or application, but a movie with all sorts of versions of it? I can see the trend now.

Why? Because the blasphemous thought entered my mind. The idea that if I need to once again see Lion King character hijinks and hear 'Hakuna Mutata" again, I could rewatch the original release, or hear the CD. Maybe I should stop thinking those nasty thoughts.

another movie/series that pisses me off are those Alien videos.

i remember awhile ago hearing about a special version of Aliens that was supposed to be like 44min longer then the theatrical release. i thought it was the 'Special Edition' and picked that up, but the Special Edition was another version that only had 11min of extra footage.. and ended up being the 'Collector's Edition' that was the one i wanted. arrrggghhh!!!

then there's that "Aliens Quadrilogy" set where only 'Alien' & 'Aliens' are in that "Collector's Edition" format, whereas the rest of the videos in the set are just the 'Special Edition' versions... so you just know they are going to release yet another set where all the movies are the 'Collector's Edition' versions.

What about land before time? their sequels go well past their old age, extinction, fosilization...etc.... I think it was up to "Part 9" a few years back.

THE END....or is it the beginning of another sequel?

Disney just lost Pixar, so they are probably getting desperate now.

Disney can't make original animated movies. I haven't seen an original animated title, in terms of a fresh story (I'm not talking about the Lion King/Kimba or Atlantis/Nadia thing here) in several years. They found out with the Tigger Movie that cheap animated films with popular characters make more money than their "blockbuster" titles. Well ,when your blockbuster title is a turd, it's no fucking wonder it PERFORMS like a turd in the box office.

And heaven forbid they actually do more than an arthouse run with a Miyazaki film (Spirited Away), since they sure as shit don't want to have a foreign animated film perform better in the box office than their own turd animated films!

Disney has turned to crap and cranks out the sequels because none of the original Disney creators are there. Why did it take so long to get a sequel to Lady and the Tramp? Because Walt had a policy of NO SEQUELS which was upheld until recently. The constant diarhea of sequles and me toos has proven to lucrative for Disney to ignore. Evidently Tigger cost 6 million ot make and made more than 10 times that in the box office alone, no telling what it did on DVD.

Disney is a shitty company whose only saving grace these days are the Miyazaki films.
