Tough call, but I've got to go with Real Bout. It's close though, if I liked Alpha 3 more that series may have taken it.

This is a hard one, but I'm going w/ the Alpha/Zero series(by a bit).

Both series are great and had some great late 90's 2D fighters. I chose the Alpha/Zero series cause I enjoyed all 3 very much(especially Alpha/Zero 2). The Real Bout series were also good, but Alpha/Zero offered a bit more. Each Alpha/Zero game offered new stages/backgrounds, characters(even though it started small), and significant gameplay additions. Alpha/Zero 3 even let you choose how you wanted to play before you started.

The Real Bout series is real good, but feel like slight updates to each other. I also enjoy RBS and RB2 a lot more than RBFF.

It's tough, but i have to give it to Alpha/Zero.

Whoever voted Real Bout series is seriously toking the crack pipe. C'mon crackheads everybody in chorus now, RB rules, RB rules, I only like it because SNK made it...

Get real folks. The Alpha series is ten times better than that RB stuff. Neo rocks my world hardcore but I don't have to vote SNK just because I own a Neo and love it to death. I play for real, and I know when one game is of higher quality than another. The Alpha series is one hell of a package. The RB series rehashes the FF series, which FF completely rules, but there's not enough new substinance in RB to keep me entertained for more than an hour at a time.

I love the Zero/Alpha series and out of the 3 polls (SF1-2vsFF1-3, Garou vs. Third Strike and this one), this decision was the closest. Good arguments could be made either way and Zero/Alpha 2 is one of the best fighters ever made. But if you think RB2 plays anything like FF1, 2, or Special, then YOU are the one smoking the crack pipe.

Bah !

Don't come around with the 'Fanboy' argument.

Real Bouts have exactly what Alpha's don't.
They were inovative, they still stand fine the test of time.
They sound REAL GOOD and have a superb combo system.

I'm sick of watching every Street Fighter the same Ken/Ryu combo's all the time. SF's are limited. Like it or not. Jumping HK, standing HP, Shoryuken/Hadouken. Always the same since SF2.

And if you wanna talk about fanboism, ask that question to yourself : What about the same poll in Shoriuken.com ? Do you think they give a damn about Real Bouts ? They think a good fighting game is to hear a chara saying "Hadouken, Hadouken, Shooooooooryuken" .

Nothing else to say.

Alpha blows. Specially graphics wise.

RB for me. I have played a few of the alpha games, and I thought they were remarkably similar in play to the original SF series. The system is different, but that wasn't enough to interest me.

I spent many hours with both series, but I prefer SFA. Though I couldn't live without either. :)

As much as I love the Real Bout series. I'm going to have to vote for the SF. Alpha series. You simply can't beat Alpha 2 for it's continuation of the traditional SF gameplay.

What a hard desicion!!! RB and Alpha2 are some of the best fighting games, both amazing. But I played alpha2 more so I voted for that. Plus the custom combos and sakura make me like it a little better.

Voted RB... mainly for the overall package.
I've played RBS and RB2... both very good, though I like RBS more.
I've played SFZ2 and SFZ3... *hated* SFZ3.

Not really a competetive player, though, so I can't comment too much on the gameplay, except that every freaking SFZ3 competetive video I've watched is VSakura vs VSakura.

Had to go Alpha, only because the Fatal Fury series never caught on for me. I was always playing Art of Fighting more.

Haha, I remember before even playing Real Bout, I was super into Alpha (1 and 2 at the time). I bought Real Bout 2 for my AES before even playing it because it looked like it was like Alpha's art style. I love the hell out of RB2, but the magic from Alpha/Zero1, and then especially 2, just puts it over the top for me. My vote goes to Alpha/Zero.

I love both, however, but the feeling I had when I first played Alpha. Wow.

With that said, I think that Real Bout has cooler characters and MUCH better music. But, it's not everything.

I ain't taking anything away from Capcom, and I did prefer the ZERO series over even THREE (except "Third Strike" of course)...but I'd have to say that I prefer Real Bout overall over the Zero series. My opinion is a bit biased now that I'm getting better with the faux 3-D dodge/line changing thing and going into super RUSH HIT moves that are insane though, so that might have something to do with it too. I find it funny however, that by the time Capcom got to Street Fighter Zero 3 the feeling of that series took a very SNKish slant in it's presenation, looking a bit more like a KOF game than it's own product. My only real complaint over the RB FATAL FURY games that ZERO has over it, is that there's no "military" fighters in RB FF, and a Rolento clone would have been nice.

I gotta go with Alpha.

Dude, why are you here anyway? There are plenty of nice Capcom fansites out there.

Oh yeah, and I went with real bout. I'm not even really sure why alpha exists. It's a great game, but seems like it's just the SFII engine with a graphical overhaul. I prefer the other SF games that don't have the cartoony thing going on.
