I realize I have to active threads in the top ten topics right now, so this will be my last one for a while.

But I am just wondering how happy modded Xbox owners are with their purchase. Are the emulators available for it high quality?

I am really thinking about modding one, but I'm not quite sure.

i can sit in front of my tv and play cadillacs and dinosaurs, willow, cadash, etc.

cant do that with my ps2.

i can play better versions of multi platform games like metal arms (ive played both, xbox is considerably superior).

sorry ps2

i can play gt4 prologue on my ps2 and other exclusives.

sorry xbox BUT i can play splinter cell 2, magatama, etc on my xbox so...

about even on that point.

i have both becoz i dont want to miss out on platform exclusives but if i was FORCED to choose my ps2 would be gone..

which is a total turn around coz i didnt play any xbox up until a month or two ago...

my 2cents

It's a wonderful thing, having thousands upon thousands of games all on one system. Hell, I thought it was worth it when I got the mod over a year ago, when just the NES, SNES and Mame-X emus were available. Now there's almost 20 different systems. But now that I can play Paper Mario on my Xbox, I really don't see things getting any better, emulation wise, on the Xbox.

Where's my Xbox 2 (Next, or whatever)?

I say it is really worth it, but take care you can do most of that stuf with your PC as well. But Xbox has some advantages.

Just to clarify what X means by yes is you have to have a Switch installed on your box to turn off the Mod, to allow it to get on live. Live can somehow tell if your system is modded (without the switch that is) then ban your box from live forever. Just do what I did. Get a 2nd Xbox, and mod it. Now i have one for Live, and one for everything else.

And for GenjiGlove - yes its worth it.

i had no interest in buying a next gen console. Indeed the last console i bought was dreamcast in 1999. Than 2 weeks ago i saw a modded X Box and was blown away. I saw all the neo geo games run seemingly perfectly. I offered the guy who owned the machine $400 on the spot for it. He refused. I went home and to my pleasant suprise saw 2 modded x boxes in the local loot paper. I bought one that day for $350. It had 50 backed up games. 35 neo geo games, and 300 mame titles, and snes and gameboy advance shit.
To be able to play an arcade perfect version of operation wolf at home was astonishing. Its like one of my favourite games ever. So in answer yep the xbox modded is amazing, even my non gamer friends have been all over it

This is getting too tempting. I'd have done this a long time ago, but I wanted to get around to using Xbox Live sooner or later. If I would be able to get my Xbox modified with a switch to turn the mod off, that would be incredible.

I guess I have a few questions, then.

1.) What chips would you recommend/warn against?

2.) Does the chip interfere with anything besides Xbox Live?

3.) How much would a good modchip cost? How about installation?

4.) Where can I purchase a modchip from/ send my system to in order to get it modified (preferably the same place)?

5.) Are most chips flash-upgradable (or something like that), so I won't get burned when a new copy-protection scheme comes out?

Thanks for any help.

I have an Executor 2 lite, and it was installed by a Mod-God by the name of RustyDog. HitmanXLT can vouch for this guy too, as well as a couple of my friends. His website is www.get-modded.com

He will even go out and get an xbox for you, brand new, install the chip, and even install a larger HDD if you want. I had him install a 60gb HDD i had laying around, and had him buy the box, and do the installation... his prices are very reasonable too.

Let's say I buy the chip, and a used Xbox. I have a Seagate Barracuda 80GB HDD collecting dust. I send everything to this guy to install, how much would I be looking at?

Alternately I could do it myself, but I have no soldering skills.

Im not sure. I know he installed the HDD I sent him for free, I just paid for the box, chip, chip installation and return shipping.

Shoot him an email, he'll give you a hookup.

Ok, so what systems can fit on this harddrive besides, SNES, Genesis, NES, MAME, N64, Neo Geo? What does the menu look like? Is it like a long long list to choose what game? If im playing a game, and I want to choose another, do I just hit reset on the Xbox or do I get to choose from the menu?
