Japanese DC GD-ROM replacement

If I buy a replacement GD-ROM, like this one at Lik-Sang, will it work with my Japanese DC system? I doubt this part of the system is different from region to region, but I want to be sure.

I guess my other question is, does anyone know where I can FIND this part online? Everywhere I find it, it's SOLD OUT.

Anyone have a DC that no longer works but the GD-ROM does? I'll buy the DC off of you for the working GD-ROM, as long as you are selling it cheap.

You will fucking rule if you can get a replacement drive! All the places online don't seem to have ANY in stock.

As a follow up, I did something I rather dreaded, I took apart my working US system (working since 9-9-99) and pulled the GD-ROM assembly out and swapped it with the Japanese system. Sure enough, it worked! I then put my US system back together with it's original GD-ROM and thankfully it still works OK.

neo-geo2, let me know about the part. There is a guy at work whose step son has a DC, I might see if he'd be willing to sell it to me for parts. I would prefer not cannibalising a working system if I don't have to though.

Sure thing. Theres a store in St. Louis that repairs systems and ive gotten many parts and lens's there before. Im gonna try to go tommorow.

The drive itself is just that, a drive. It doesn't care wether it's PAL or NTSC, 50 or 60 Hz, or anything else that separates us into "regions". I have a spare DC that I could see you if you're interested.

I ended up calling my brother who works at EB to see if they had any used DCs in stock and how much they were. Turns out they had a defective unit that had the "random reset" problem. I tried the lense on that one to try and get away on the cheap (since it was already defective it was already going back to the depot anyway). Turns out that lense was fucked as well. $15 later I now own 3 working DCs and 1 broken one

I bought the working DC they had and swapped the lenses with the Japanese DC. I then proceeded to play Ikaruga for 1.5 hrs I'll keep the rest of the used DC I bought for parts (I may swap the Japanese PS for the US one at some point, though the Japanese PS IS rated for 100-120V so I should be OK using it).
