From the sound of the statements, things don't sound good. All I'm hoping for is a port to ANY console, preferably the XBox. It's really up and down with info on this game - one minute it's never getting ported, one minute it's coming for multiple systems, next minute it's a maybe.

It seems that Yu Suzuki's game licenses always get in some kind of drama... Don't get me started with Shenmue... :annoyed:

Yes, it is not planned for consoles at all.

SEGA say "its an arcade title not meant for the home", it was only Amazon UK's idiocy that started rumours. They put it scheduled for PS2 & Xbox, which SEGA asked them to remove for being a lie.

Shame

He has a small point with the whole Rental issue. Though it's a shame since a lot of us would love to have the game as we play arcade-style games like forever. Well, given that I've personally put more hours into KOF than any other game I've played, and they are arcade games. Then count the hours I have put into arcade racers, particularly Sega ones. What's odd is how can Outrun2 be just 10 minutes when you take into consideration paths and such. Didn't they also plan on having some modes where you drive for the passengers and stuff? (Being that I never got to play the arcade one).

Maybe the issue is that they worry that the arcade racing audience is too small. That also makes it seem quite unlikely we may see an Initial D racing game port for the US PS2, too. Hmm, that kind of saddens me. I love them Sega arcade racers. I was weened on them, and I typically love games the best that recreate the experience. Heck, Sega was a great influence to my love for PGR and Rallisport challenge, given the similarities in execution.

The bigger shame is that the Western rather dead Arcade scene is the main reason those of us are willing to pay for our OutRun2. I might have less incentive to pick it up if there was a chance I'd ever see the game. I still never even got remotely close to a Planet Harriers machine.

Heh. I'm glad Outrun 2 is staying as an "Arcade only". It's a great sit-down game and personally think it'd lose alot in the translation to the home market.

Also speaking as an operator, the game runs over $7,000 and it becomes a lousy investment when someone can get their hands on a home port for under $50

If that's the case, what we need, in the states, is MORE Outrun 2. I wanna play the darn thing.

Stupid, dumb, pathetic. It doesnt take a brain surgeon to figure out this game would sell well, and that whole rental worry is hilarious. As for keeping it in arcades thats pretty tough these days especially in the US, arcades are barely present and many that are have shitty old games.

Personally, I don't care if it comes to the US or not. As long as it's released in Japan for some system (preferably the XBox, despite its poor sales there), I'll be all over it. Until then, I'll keep playing Initial D: Special Stage on the PS2, and loving Sega racing quality.

Hey Neofight. What movie did your sig come from? It looks like one of those crazy eastern punkish or gangster style movies that I love to watch. Stuff like Attack the gas station or Sharkskin man and Peachhip girl. Heck even the powered up crazy films like Volcano High were great watches to me. Must have more. :)
