Everything in this planet has a place, trees produce oxygen, animals eat other animals and so on... But why are we(humans) here? If we dissapeared from this earth, would the planet survive? Is our place to in this world, to eventually destroy it?

Neither.

The planet was here before you, and will likely be here long after the human race has ceased to exist.

Enjoy your stay.

"We live surrounded by an endless multitude of mysteries. But no matter how enigmatic may be the mysteries which surround being, what is most enigmatic and disturbing is that mystery in general exists and that we are somehow definitely and forever cut off from the sources and beginnings of life."

I'd say were here because a divine creator (call him GOD, call it what you will) created the human race. Since then however, mankind has fucked up everything it comes into contact with, perverts their own laws that govern them, and care shit one about "nature" and being one with it. I don't mean in the sense that you worship it... but having the better understanding that this isn't our world to rule over. We're here for a period, can't really own anything... and then we fade away, only remembered by those left behind or by photos for those among our sentient race to wonder about. Other than that, I guess there really isn't any BIG reason as to why we're here... we just are.

Do not concern yourself with where you came from or where you are going, for the only important time is now.

The earth will survive with or without us. We're here because it just worked out that way. Don't waste your time thinking about why - just go play some more Metal Slug and you'll be alright.

Too many people think that they will "really start to live" only after they have retired, amassed money , bought a house etc

Start to live now!

"We are the local embodiment of a cosmos grown to self-awareness. We have begun to contemplate our origins: starstuff; pondering the stars, organized assemblages of ten billion billion billion atomsconsidering the evolution of atoms; tracing the long journey by which, here at, least consciousness arose. Our loyalties are to the species and the planet. We speak for earth. Our obligation to survive is owed not just to ourselves, but also to that cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring."

-Carl Sagan

in short we live to learn, to grow in the mind, and to become something greater mentally, we live to explore the unexplored, to pioneer the ocean that is space, or the ocean that is ourselves. how we got here is a question of physics and chemistry, and to others a question of religion. i don't care to spark a debate i care to spark the embers of knowledge. no go read a few books my friends fulfill the goal of man, the goal of life: to learn. do not be harrowed by the pursuit of money, or material things, those are provided when needed, just seek the answers to your mind's questions and live how you wish. the man who dies with a full wallet is the man who dies with an empty mind.

We are here so that two disparate cultural icons could come together and become ONE- in the context of the internet BBS.

The noble Aztek warrior- that massive titan of human war prowess- that same titan that got his ass HANDED to him by a handful of greedy Spanish opportunists

AND

The Japanese 'Ninja'- that notorious assassin of all Japan's dark places- that superhuman warrior. THE NINJA

That these two could come together- in the form of a Hispanic dude that likes Japanese video games-

HENCEFORTH KNOWN AS: - - - AZTEKNINJA!!!

The only places I find greater poigniancy than in your original post- is in the artwork I see airbrushed onto the sides and back of the many vans I see in Los Angeles' poorer neighborhoods. The same sort of cruiser you might have noticed in Cheech and Chong's 'Next Movie'

Rock on 'AztekNinja'

That's all well and good now please make your sig smaller.

Thank you.

On Topic: We are here because we thought (wrongly?) it was a good idea to get out of the trees. Though some may argue that even the trees were a bad idea, and we never should have left the ocean.
(Kudos to those who understand the reference, I say)

I think there is no reason for our existence here at all. The reason everyone asks for it is in my opinion the same reason why people feel they need to believe in a God. it's just fear and trying to escape the idea that there is no meaning or target in life besides the ones that you create yourself.. It's really hard to explain, but the question actually doesn't make any sense.

But besides my own feeling about this matter, a lot of nice things have been said which are worth thinking about. However, I'm not really into answers like: he who dies rich has an empty mind. It's nicely put, but I think it's too shallow to end with that thought only. it should go a bit further if you know what I mean..
