nope gamecube is definetly more dominant now. The X Box has a niche market of grown ups and serious teenagers, but the gamecube is well liked by kids and game fanatics. I really respect the gamecube line up it is poor quality. Kinda more a joint nintendo and sega venture than just nintendo. I only owned it for weeks but great memories. As for the X Box I must confess it is for the roms it is popular

A. Europe is the LEAST important (sales-wise) market.
B. Nintendo has NEVER fared well in Europe.
C. Having a hit game system in Europe is about as relevant as Citizen Dick's claim of being 'big in Belgium'.
D. Europe's song 'The Final Countdown' makes me grow a big rubbery one.

Well its true NIntendo's marketing in europe has been very poor, they always saw it as far less important than the Japanese and north american market.

Europe may be the least important games market in terms of units shifted for Nintendo, but it is a moot argument as Sony rule here.

SNK always gave great respect to the European market as did Konami and Namco who had bases in London. Those companies did very well here. And lets not forget that the UK in the 1980s was perhaps the most creative gaming country outside Japan.

Yeah! All of the south american countries aquires more games than us !! :tickled:

lol !

We're a small continent, but we've our own influence though.
Nintendo being a dorkshit In Europe affects it in every other continent.

Look at the Xbox's... Japan's the most important market. There are no Xbox sales. It's all about US and Europe for the Billy Box success.

Nintendo will get on track again when they realize that Europe and Australia ARE also a market to conquer.

Shut up

Europe has a bigger sales market than Japan. If you fucking knew anything, I wouldn't have to tell you that. Sales go USA, Europe, Japan. Europe is not just england, it's every fucking countrys sales combined over there.

Europe was the main reason the Sega Master System didn't completly die out, because it was more popular than the NES over there, but it didn't sell shit in Japan, and did even worse in the USA.

Wow, I was thinking it, but I didn't want to offend some of the cooler UK members.

Well-put Loopz.

The cube is dead, I know it's gonna be hard for a fanboy like you to take, but it's true. Give away your fucking xbox man, you don't deserve it. I can't believe you like Area 88, you disgrace it's name.

So why is the cube dead again? It looks to be gaining momentum lately, if anything, and its total numbers are neck and neck with the box. That new DS thing, on the other hand - that'll be a stillbirth, like the VB.

I have to agree with galfordo. The Cube is starting to get some really good games, more frequently. My favorite is still the Xbox because of Live, but the Cube seems to be picking up momentum.

I just wish more 3rd Party support was there. The new Final Fantasy game.. looks like it might be ok, but I shouldn't have to own a GBA just to play it. Nintendo needs to stop focusing on crap like the Virtual Boy DS 2 EX alpha, and crap like connectability to the GBA, and focus more on aquiring more 3rd party support, and START WORKING ON AN ONLINE SYSTEM.

Must be the sales of wooden Candy cabs putting Europe over the top. Dumbass.

Find me ANY sales data that indicates Europe spends more on video games than the Japanese (perhaps in some J-Pop songs?)
and I'll pull the XBox controller (original size) I left in your mom's brown eye out and lick it.

Got nothing against the UK or any of our European friends.
The pecking order is simply:

1. US
2. Japan
3. Europe

The major video game markets. Mmmmmkay? Thanks.

Hendrix already proved older candy cabs are completly made out of wood inside, so I hope you know you look like a fool with that old ass comeback.

Nintendo did VERY wel here in Europe, until the N64 and Cube. When I was little, everyone and his mother had a NES, actually I remember reading that 1M over 14M total had one here in Holland.

No matter how big of a fan I am of nintendo games, those 2 machines just plain suck. The N64 has a couple of nice games, but even the games like Mario Kart and Mario World don't succeed on the Cube. They seem to have lost their touch it just seems...

Comedy Gold.

Anyway, at least here in Spain, neither the Mater system nor the NES did very well, the console market boom was made in 92, when the Megadrive clearly overpassed the Supernes, although they both sold very well. After that, the PSX wiped out the Saturn, and the N64 had a small but loyal market.

Right now, the PS2 owns everybody else, and I'd say Xbox and GC are more or less equal.

Loopz has it pretty accurate. Europe has never really been Nintendo's strong point, nor has it ever really been a significant market for consoles. There are things here and there yes, but there is also a reason why so few games make it to Europe. Just for example, look at Namco, they have yet to publish a single game in Europe that I know of. Sony published everything for them and Nintendo and Microsoft picked up a few. Even EA is publishing R: Racing Evolution for them. Europe has more potential then the Japanese market, but it has yet to surpass it. Not that this kind of shit matters much anyway, the X-box simply does so poorly in Japan that it will never suprass the Gamecube in worldwide sells, especailly considering that the Gamecube is steadly gaining ground on them in other territories.

For your information the european sales of the PS2 and stuff are higher in europe then Japan.Europe is next to NA the most important market. The problem here is that people only buy EA games :(

At the same time, Namco also announced plans to establish a development base in the UK. With the sluggish Japanese economy, they wish to increase their overseas development. The UK base will also manufacture software for other game makers in UK, France and Canada, challenging world leaders Electronic Arts amongst others in a move seen as a necessity for competing on a global scale.
