I really dont hear too much on the Fire Pro series outside a handful of old sites here and there online, but this series kicks so much ass it deserves some love! Great rosters, tons of moves and reversals, gimmick matches, the almighty CRITICAL...all in 2-motherf'n-D.

Anyone still into the series? What was the verdict on Fire Pro Z for the PS2...just the same as FPD but with new rosters? What happened to the Fire Pro Club that used to be located at Fireproclub.com? I cant seem to find any recent info.

*Scurries off to fire up the DC for some wrasslin goodness*

I am.

Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium for the Super Famicom was the first one I played, and man, my primitive American style wrestling ways were butchered. I haven't played those games in a while, but I remember getting my ass handed to me constantly because the way to grapple and do everything was so completely different than what I was used to. It took a while to adjust, but the Create-A-Player function was incredible for the system, and the graphics were great. I remember laughing at all of the slightly tweaked names so they weren't sued.

Great series. Every US Wrestling game since has seemed really empty when compared to it, but they're easier to pick up and play with a group of friends.

I'm not that a big fan, but I used to play Fire Pro Wresteling G and 6men Scramble (PSX and Saturn) allot. I didn't really like the DC version after that. Meaby I got enough of it, it are great games with long replay value and good gameplay though.

I am. From what I've read Fire Pro Z was a huge disappointment for long time fans of the series. I haven't played it, but from what I've heard it's just Fire Pro D with a Story mode like G had. I also think alot of people are burnt out on the series. I kind of am. I've only played D once in the last 6 months. While it's, IMO, the best wrestling game series it got boring after a while.

I'm probably one of the biggest Fire Pro fans here on these forums.
A few years ago after the release of D I ran a online Fire Pro fed called HMWA, where people would send me their characters via email save files and I'd run the matches and post results and caps of the match on the site.

The fact that Fire Pro Z was a huge disappointment is what took the wind of everyone sails.
It wasnt really a disappointment because it was a lack of a sufficient update, but the whole game itself feels like a downgrade of D. As did FPG for PS to FPSMS for Saturn.
I'll still play it now and again, but I'll never be hooked like I was with D.

If you're into Fire Pro I highly suggest you all check out King of Colosseum.
Its from the makers of Fire Pro and is probably the most indepth 3D wrestling engine in any game on the market!
KOC is actually 2 different games. The only thing different between the games is different Japanese wrestling feds are featured in each. And you can combine the two games and play them as one.

A guy I know from the Fire Pro community has a KOC fan site at:
http://kocaccess.gswf.org/index.html

I also frequent the KOC boards over at GameFAQS:
http://cgi.gamefaqs.com/boards/gentopic.asp?board=32275

Another reason FPZ was seen as a disappointment is because KOC came out WAY before FPZ and had many small features they also could have applied to Z but didnt.

lol same here. When I bought SFPWXP, it was in the anticipation of FPD, and since I had NEVER played ANY Fire Pro agme before, my ass was kicked several, several times. It was seeing the cool shit the CPU doing that kept me moving forward to learn the system because I was so used to button ramming like on those old Acclaim/LJN WWF games. It took some heavy convining to convince my "Smackdown" friends to give it a try and they really dig it :)

Although I discovered the Fire Pro series extremely late with the first FP for the GBA, I was hooked! It took me forever to figure out the timing for the grapples, but once I did, it was pure heaven. I later picked up D for the Dreamcast and it's still my favorite game for the system. It was just perfect IMO. Beautiful sprites, awesome soundtrack, 2 second load times, moves that will probably never be in a US wrestling game, etc.

I just can't say enough about it really. I still think the way Spike released a new move each week for download is the coolest feature I've ever seen in a game, period. Combined with the ultra sweet convenience of downloading CAW packs and whatnot made FPD the greatest wrestling sim of all time. After finally playing D to death, I remember thinking to myself that everything that's wrong with every other wrestling game I've ever played is perfect in Fire Pro. I think that sums the series up quite nicely.

I got MUCH love for Fire Pro games. If it weren't for FP I wouldn't be into Saturn today! :emb:

My bro and I played FP G on PS1 for like years. We always played the same thing:

Me and him vs. CPU Foley and Flair BEDLAM tag team on the hardest level (10). Our goal was to first:

a. break their neck, back, arms or legs

b. make them bleed

c. CRITICAL!

:D

Great times, then we bought Six Men and Z. Z wasn't bad.... it was just more of the same. That's not really a bad thing.

FP games have amazing gameplay and replay value... you can't say that for most games. FP is the kind of game you always come back to... cuz it's just damn cool and fun :buttrock:

Can anyone give me a few quick tips on how to play Fire Pro games, i have Fire Pro D (DC) & Fire Pro III : Legendary Bout (PCE)........they both seem to play similar (obviously more scope on DCC), but i just cant get it....

I really wanna enjoy them they seem cool enough, too much to learn/too hard for me

I know in general the DC version you have to time the direction + button for moves in the grapple, which i got from an FAQ, but the whole thing was FAR too big to read, i couldnt even print it out, 52 pages!

I refuse to believe i need all that info, just a few pointers if you please.

The timing of the D+button is tricky at first, but it's quite do-able :) On the DC version, when you lock up, you'll hear a lil "thud" sound FX which is when you should input the move. The opening is small, but you can nail it with practice :) Also, remember, early in matches, use your weaker moves, then progress upwards to your asskickin moves as your opponent gets worn.

edit: and no you dont have to read those FAQS entirely. Most of em are just move translations for various situation in the Create A Wrestler, IIRC.
