All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't fucking do it with such crappy engineering.

Off the shelf PC parts = crap.

some nice colors, but its fucking insane how they charge hundreds because they painted it. Limited Edition my ass, we just want different colors. Same goes for ps2, $300+ for a damn paint job?.

NCS is making a pretty penny on those white XBoxes. If you're in Japan you get one of those, the DVD kit, the Live starter kit, and any 20 letter message inscribed for 19800 JPY. In fact, if you buy a regular Box in Japan, you get all that shit plus Halo and PGR2 for 19800. If that's not a deal, I don't know what is.

That white one is fucking awesome.

However Dreamcast is the BEST looking console ever, white or otherwise.

Sadly for you, "off the shelf PC parts" = the best game console currently on the market, in terms of hardware design and performance. And besides the system, the games are much better than your kiddiecube too . . . :tickled:

Define "best game console on the market".

It is definately not the one that sells more units.

Best overall performance? Absolutely.

Best hardware design? Haha, not at all, the Xbox wasn't really "designed", neither Microsoft did any kind of R&D while "designing" it.

Funny, per dollar it's terrible.

As for games, Ikaruga is better than anything on X-Box, among others. :D

Funny. Ikaruga is old. Came out on the DC a long time ago, so no big reason to get a GC. Plus, it isn't one of the best shooters I've played, by a longshot. There are tons of better shooters.

And, Serious Sam on the XBox blows away just about any game on the GC, even though its just a "port" of SS:FE and SS:SE from the PC. Control and play is just fantastic, and I'd much rather have that than Ikaruga, any day.

Oh and finally, there are quite a few Saturn shooters that also blow away Ikaruga. So if its shooters you love, the Saturn is the only way to go . . . :smirk:

Best overall performance, yes.

Best hardware design, absolutely. MS went to game developers and asked them what they wanted in a console, in terms of features, then went BACK and designed one to include their desires. Thats a hell of a lot more than Nintendo or Sony EVER did . . . and it shows in the final product.
