I just got the new EGM and was sooooo happy to see a good review for a game in a dying genre. Cant wait for it and Gradius V!

R-Type Final is the type of shooter game I really really dig so much.

R-type and Gradius are the only two shooters I'll get for my PS2 :glee:

I love level one end boss.............

I'm Pretty sure you have a Feb release over there.

I heard it's in the 1st of March in the UK..so i think it's worldwide and gets attention it deserves.

I too love shooters and my fav is R-Type for sure. I loved R-Type II in the arcades. I can't wait for this release.

Yeah me too,i'm rebuying one for it.I really can't wait cause i love R Type

I've been playing R Type on my PCE for awhile now and i've just got R Type 2 lol...it's a bitch of a game isn't it?

I'm glad you peeps over there are doing your bit to support it's release.

My ass dying. Shmups are in full swing since Ikaruga busted the doors open on the DC. For home releases in the past year alone you have:

Shikigami No shiro 1 & 2
Psivaiar (one of the revision)
Border Down
Gunbird 1&2 (PS2 double pack)
Gunbird 1 (US release)
Iridion 2
Choanaki
DoDonPachi - DOJ
Ikaruga (GC)

I am sure I am missing a few.

I was thinking stateside releases as not everyone imports....and some are scared to even breathe on their PS2's as much as mod one :p But I guess you're right in listing the imports though, because I think a real fan of the genre will find a way to play.

Yea, I don't have a modded anything, but I recognise that they are available. As far as GC and DC you really don't need to mod to play imports. I forgot about Star Soldier and Fantasy Zone for GC. So with out modding anything you have:

Shikigami 2 (GC)(DC Soon)
Star Soldier (GC)
Fantasy Zone (GC)
Ikaruga (GC)

Border Down (DC)
Psiviar 2 (DC Soon)

Shikigami 1 (PS2 butchered and released as Mobile Light force 2)
Gunbird (PS1, butchered and released as Mobile Light Force 1)
Gekhio Shooting King (PS1 a port of Shienryu)
R-Type Final (PS2 Comming next week)
Gradius 5 (PS2 this year)

All these w/o modding :) Still, even here it is decent.

Have you guys seen pics of this game? Looks amazing. It seems Konami can be a risktaker sometimes too.
