So I won this 2-slot cab:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13716&item=3268805176

It is in awesome condition, but monitor is out.
It only shows a green horizontal line right in the middle of
the screen? You can hear the in game music, but can't
obviously see anything, just the green line. Any ideas
as to why this is? monitor dead? something disconnected?
There's a couple of things disconnected, but I will probably
have to see where they go until tomorrow....

Any advice will be appreciated.

You have a frame collapse.
The electron beams are being scanned horizontally but not vertically. Probably the vertical output IC, if your lucky maybe just dry joints around the vert output stage.

there was something lose, it looks something like this:

Code:
-------------------------------------------------------------
| O O O
|V-Pos BLKLevel Contrast
|
|
|
|O O O
|H-Pos V-Hold V-Size
|
|

I had something like that occur when I brought the Tekken 3 cab home..
When I turned it on I could hear music but had a green horizontal line right in the middle of the screen..
I thought the monitor got messed up during the move/s..and I was pretty pissed off for it worked when I got it..

I found out that the plug going into the adjustment pots/screws for the monitor wasn't all the way in..
(The one you see under the control panel)

That was"my "problem..and luckily I noticed it before I shelled out for another monitor..
(I got lucky)
...
Oh,Nice Cab..........Congrats!!

What monitor pcb is it ?
Some monitors have a test switch that collapses the vert scan for set up purposes. Check that the switch (if it has one) is not set to service mode.

I can take a nice pic of it. I don't see any switches...
I may have to get a monitor tech guy in here and see if they
can fix it, but that will have to wait for the weekend.

This was the part that was not making good contact/disconnected..in the Tekken 3 cab..

Yours looks fine..

Are the wires hooked up to the isolation transformer../loose etc..?

The vertical output IC is the device mounted to the aluminium heatsink on the top right, check to see if there are poor solder connections around that area. Is it getting hot.
I would say check for 24 volt supply to this IC (get a tech to do it)
A problem with connection to the isolating transformer would not cause a frame collapse.

Monitor repair is usually beyond the skills of most people, myself included. I have used these folks in the past with good luck:

P&L Video Games

15858 Main St
La Puente, CA 91744

1-800-992-6588

They are not too much on customer service, but if you send them the monitor chassis, they will fix it flat rate. I think mine was $75 including shipping.

You will have to discharge your monitor and then pull the chassis to send it to them, or maybe they have an outside tech.

Good luck!

Do you have a link on how to discharge monitors?
I talked to someone there, and he told me that he will fix it
for $40 + shipping. He said to ship it and he will do it right
away. I just don't know how discharge this thing. Thanks
for the help!

I actually have a monitor discharge tool, but I don't see them advertised anywhere much anymore.

Make sure to keep your other hand in your pocket.
