Its being released on the 27th! IMO this is the best Star Trek movie ever made, and ive been waiting for what seems like ages for this.

Ill be picking this up along with my HDTV this friday! :D Anyone else getting it?

I wish they would get Myer to reinvision Star Trek again. What he did with the franchise was always amazing. (all three times)

My copy shipped mid last week... could be here today, but maybe not due to the snow.

5 was disappointing, I thought, but the rest were pretty decent flicks, even the first one considering how old it is.

Yeah, 5 is pretty damn terrible. Bit of a shame, would have been nice to have six good movies.

One thing for sure is:

Kirk Movies > Generation movies

Generation series > Kirk series

Of course the Generations movie counts as a Generation film, though does contain possibly the best ST movie scene of the Enterprise crashing.

I think it helps that the budget for one episode of NG was probably larger than the ENTIRE budget for all of the original series.

Six is definitely my favorite. It's the only one I own on DVD -so I'll be making the "update" (which always benefits my local public library which recieves the older editions).

Two was also good, but the sheer number of Cold War references made combined with the copious amounts of Shakespeare (and the resulting "Klingon Hamlet" book) really took the cake.

General Chang: "I am as constant as the Northern Star!"
McCoy: "I'd pay real money if he'd shut up."

Plummer's "Cry Havoc! And let loose the dogs of war!" fucking rocks

But Khan is #1 baby.

I find it sort of funny that the two best Star Trek films, II and VI were directed by Nicholas Roeg, who has no interest in Science Fiction and said he wanted to model his 'naval' version of Star Trek as if it were 'Horatio Hornblower'.

I received this in the mail yesterday and watched it last night. No visual defects and barely any, if any, edge enhancement from what I can tell... EXCELLENT transfer.

Anyone who buys the new one shouldn't be disappointed. :D
