I distinctly remember there being a rumor(which I thought was true) that Dolph had retired from making movies..and this was about 2 years ago. Apparently this was a rumor that got out of hand, as he has 3 movies scheduled for release this year.

IT WAITS (2004)
RETROGRADE (2004)
DIRECT ACTION (2004)

Hope they are better than some of his last movies like Red Agent and Last Warrior. Although the last one I saw called Hidden Agenda was really quite exceptional IMO.

edit..woops here's a link to his bio and filmography...what a bad ass, speaks five languages.

I.Q. = 160

The Punisher movie wasn't THAT bad. Actually, it was probably the best Marvel movie of the time.

Lundgren's action movies were typical mindless action movies... who can't enjoy a mindless action movie besides women?

Hey ya'll don't be hatin'... Dolph's the fuckin' man! Most ppl just can't get into his flicks because they don't have the major money backing up the productions, but I've always saluted the fact he makes Socially/Politically Incorrect movies in a day and age where that's just not cool. ---I can't think of one movie since his MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE days were he wasn't playing some burnt out misunderstood Soldier, a Sniper, a whatever... having to go up against conspiracies and even a Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa Katana weilding bad ass in Bridge of Dragons. SILENT TRIGGER (The Algonquin Goodbye) is the best of his films IMO.

yeah dolph is a very underrated guy. His movie career has quietly chugged along for the last 15 years and like Van Damme to those guys like who grew up watching his films it wont matter if he is 20 or 50 we will still watch these kind of films

Well I will always be A STORM RIDER, but the name change is because MD20XX didn't make any sense. I don't just play that system anymore, and in reality I'm a "Mercenary" (i.e. self employed) dude 90% of the time. Doing courier jobs for people, charging by the mile sometimes every two at butt crack of dawn hours for companies... freelance photography, you name it.

Thus Mercenary

the X is symbolic of the two crossing femer bones of a pirate (Matsumoto Harlock stuff here)

The number 99 = Bordering on "Infinite" which is where I live, within the infinite possibilites of whatever, and the double meaning that the Cross Bones 99th Solar Federation BLACK COLLAR was the designation given to the bad asses in the Leiji Matsumoto film ARCADIA OF MY YOUTH.

Thus I am "Mercenary 99" but the X stands for Crossbones. It's just a combination of my Matsumoto/Harlock fandom with that of my own seat-of-my-pants persona... and I do work for money, and if the contract is right. Thus I have more or less consolidated this Identity all over the Internet (including changing my EBAY name)... email etc. ---I know it doesn't make sense, but then I'm Bipolar so you know...???

Dolph is in fact awesome.

I like most of his movies, just because he's a cool actor.

I heard a rumor a while back that at some point, he pissed off some director, so the director had him blacklisted, and thats why we see so many 'bad' movies from Lundgren.

I have no idea if that's true, but I think he would make a good Nick Fury in the new Punny movie. The guy they picked looks like a pussy compared to Dolph's Punisher role. I loved that movie.

dolph's a cool guy. he received an albright scholarship to M.I.T. for astrophysics but turned it down to pursue acting. anyway, i enjoy most of his movies. however, blackjack sucked. dolph getting punked by some white trash hick is not cool.

Man, I love Dolph. Sure some of his movies arent the absolute best, but I dig him as maybe the last legit action hero (ppl saying that Tom Cruise is an action hero crack me up).

I cant recall the flick, but Dolp had one of my favorite tough-guy-isms of all time.

Military Guy: Are you outta your mind?

Dolph (in a slow, badass drawl): No. Just outta bullets.

Outta bullets indeed.

LOL, this thread is awsome. I was just thinking about him when I was looking at a copy of Big Showdown in Little Tokyo at my store. And yes it does co-star Brandon Lee and they're both L.A. cops trying to stop a Japanese druglord. Classic stuff :tickled:

That movie would be RED SCORPION where he plays Nikolai Petrovski a Soviet "Spetsnaz Commando" who's been sent to Africa to assassinate a tribal peoples liberation army head honcho named "Sundaata". ---This scene is in the early part of the film. He's pretending to be drunk and needs to get arrested to get close to Kaluunda Kintash, who will get him close to the target. He walks into a bar, sings the Russian National Anthem (I believe), breaks a Chech Bastard's (that's what he calls the guy) nose, then shoots up the place with an AKM-47 Paratrooper issue Assault Rifle. The Cuban "Comrade" walks in and asks him...

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? to which DOLPH responds with "No. Just out of bullets!" ---Man that is so classic, one of his best flicks indeed.

I heard Dolph is going to be in the next live-action Street Fighter movie with Van Damme. It'll be like Universal Soldier 3... on CRACK!

that is so good to hear! I had no idea his IQ was so high either.

when it comes to the old-school martial arts action stars, I never really card much for Van Damme, outside of Bloodsport, but Lundgren is the man! He and Cay Hiroyuki Tagawa are more apt to make me stop an watch an action film while channel surfing than any other.

I definitely look forward to when these movies are released. Its about time a *real* action star came back to the big screen.
