Check out this ultimate matchup article, featuring hollywood martial artist hypothetical fights.

http://slate.msn.com/id/3460/

Also with some color commentary by David 'Tank' Abbot, commenting on how easy it would be for him to take on anyone on this list, including Bruce Lee:loco:

I think they give way to much credit to Seagal in this one, I mean the writer says Seagal is solid muscle..?? Not anymore, has he seen anything from Seagal lately? He looks like he's eating too many gyros or something. Not enough credit given to Van Damme, the man is a 6th degree in Shotoakan Karate for cryin out loud, and they rate him just a step above Stallone?...anyway its kind of a funny read, what do you think?

I could beat Bruce Lee. He's been dead for so many years, how hard could it be?

Tank is an idiot. HE got his ass handed to him by a relative no one recently in the UFC. Thinks he's a lot badder than he is.

Segal, legitimate bad-ass. Taught Aikido in Japan, ran a dojo over there. May be chunky, but is alegit bad-ass.

Bruce Lee, who knows, never saw him in full contact karate.

Van Damme, Pussy. Got his ass handed to him by Chuck Zito, famous Hell's Angels member and actor (on Oz). Beat the shit out of him at Scores.

Lundgren is another legit badass. He's a full contact karate champ in Australia an Europe. Internation title holder Would'nt fuck with him.

Norris, internation champ. One of the baddest on the list.

Jackie Chan, well.. he's another I don't know.

Probably would go with Lundgren and Norris as the two baddest, with segal probably picking one of those off.

Ok, Van Damme is far from a pussy. Chuck Zito has admitted that he sucker punched him in that club, during a heated argument that was getting out of hand. He later went on the Howard Stern show and admitted that had a fight been allowed to continue, Van Damme could have taken care of himself. It was one punch, a sucker punch, he didn't beat the shit out of him. That story has gotten way out of hand. In fact, Van Damme was signing autographs on his way out of the club, I don't call that hurt.

Bruce Lee is the most overrated martial artist ever. Lee idolised Muhammed Ali and western boxing. He respected the fact that boxers were real fighters he envied their speed and power of punch. I also beleive Tank Abbot (at least the one I saw in the days I followed UFC (1995-98) would have destroyed Lee. who remembers that match when Abbot himself got destroyed by this quick fisted Brazilian Ju Jitsu fighter??Abbot was crawling on the floor he was like blitzed by that guy really handed his ass.

Yep Van Damme is not given the respect he deserves and where does that jounalist get the idea that Jackie Chan is 5ft 10?:tickled: More like 5ft 4.
Schwarzenegger was a pussy who backed out of fight with Mike Mentzer who was a glasses wearing bodybuilder. He wouldnt fight these guys.

How come Don "The Dragon" Wilson aint mentioned he was a multiple world kickboxing champion in the early 80's and would kick both Lee and Seagals ass.

Van Damme might be a little more of a threat if he wasn't so coked up and drunk all the time.

Yes, he's been off the coke since he rehabbed after Knock-Off..which was what..1998? so about 5 years or more. His movies have been tops ever since...except Unisol:The Return..blech....what a sad stint that was.

Off the coke, but I looked it up and he last had a drunk driving arrest in November of 1999, and had to take an anti-drunk driving course (what the hell is that?) in 2000...no news of DUI or any other substance abuse past this point.

most his films since have a dark edge. (see desert heat/legionairre/In Hell) Its clear he uses his personal experiences in these roles. But the guy is nearly 43. Is he still a great fighter? I think the grappling and skills he showed in In Hell were the best since Bloodsport. He has a mixed rep within the stuntman community. Some see him as an asshole who enjoys pushing it too far just to get a good scene, others say he is the best in the business since Stallone when it comes to taking a punch.
