___________________________

We, the fans, will SAVE SEGA.

We will boycott the shareholder's meeting on February 17. We'll buy some shares. Nicely ask Ed Fries to save that which is holy. We'll get publicity and KILL SATAN, THE HIDEOUS SAMMY CORPORATION.

We put Sega before our own lives. It is a part of us, like a newborn baby. We SHALL NOT see our dearest child molested and murdered.

We, the fans, will rescue Sega from imminent death at the hands of Evil Sammy. It will be the ultimate triumph of the ongoing videogame war.

LET'S SAVE SEGA.

*Personally this sounds like the kind of pro-active stuff I'm always bitching about, so I'm gonna' email them and see what more I can do myself. I for one am die-hard SEGA, even though they've pissed me off pleanty in the past. ---I like the Guilty Gear games, but not enough that I want SAMMY literally dominating over SEGA! I will look into this further personally, before jumping to any rash desicions for once however. Though it seems like a legitimate FRONT set up by concerned fans for the fans by the fans... and that's always a good thing. *Though I don't know how much money I could spend to buy up Shares in SEGA. :(

How/why did you change your name Mega?:crying: :mr_t: :eye:

Anyway, SEGA won't die, they will just get heavily diluted.

#1> I got tired of being MD20XX. I might even be selling off some MD carts to support my NEO:GEO MVS habbit, but I haven't decided on that. ---As for how I changed my nick/"Call Sign". Well I'm not a liberty to discuss that, but it didn't involve anything illegal or me lowering my moral standards. The new name is closer to the truth of what I am anyhow, since I live my life "Self Employed" 90% of the time that more or less makes me a MERC. The X99 part is in substitute for crossing femer bones (like a pirate) and the "99" was the number following those bones on Captain Harlock's BLACK COLLAR from the movie Arcadia of my Youth at the begining of the film where he's working for the Solar Federation as the Captain of "The Death Shadow". ---All over the Internet the change is taking effect... soon the name MD20XX will be no more. It's just too much of an anchor of a name for someone who's got his hands into literally everything.

#2> I don't think SEGA will die, but the last thing I want is a heavily diluted SEGA. Sammy's already getting SNKP's IPs' isn't that enough? Next thing I know they'll be buying up Working Designs as a Translation/Import company too.

Sammy again, eh... they're buying up stuff left and right to put it in their Patchinko biz it seems.

Well...

Okay, I have to admit that all this sounds very alarming, but on the other hand, there's something behind this proposed campaign that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Let me quote from the web page:

[...] It is probably worth mentioning, for those of you who enquired, that the we (the worried Sega admirers who put this page up) have worked closely with Sega in three major territories for years, and whatever the ultimate result of our efforts, we can guarantee it will not go unnoticed. As you can understand we need to remain anonymous to protect our careers as members of this industry, but what we can't do is sit around doing nothing about this desperate situation. [...]

Wait - an anonymous campaign where the makers remain in the background to "protect their careers"? Well... I not very fond of stuff like that, sorry.

Hey, I'm a big Sega fan, and the last thing I want is a hostile takeover by a company that already is about to swallow the IPs of my fave system ever, the Neo. Now they're obviously going for Sega, and since the fucking shareholders will speak the final word, we prolly can expect the worst. Damn money-grubbin' greedy bastards. Yes, money drives this biz, and no monies = no games, but in Sammy's case, it's not about the games but a damn gambling system called Patchinko that brings them millions of cash every month - easy cash.

BUT - it's my opinion that the guys behind it shouldn't try to aggravate certain ppl with Yakuza-references and stuff like that but to formulate a sound letter of protest and mail it to those responsible for the whole thing, signed by several thousand Sega fans. Perhaps even a call for a boycot would be in order, but you don't help Sega by dissing their competitors or spreading rumours. Nobody knows who this ppl are that put up this page, they could be die-hard Sega fans that indeed have a honest interest in their fave game company, but they could also be pissed ex-employees that are mad about a lost contract or job...

You think these guys are using "Classic" Sokaiya tatics then? Now that you mention it, it does sound that way. When you have enough shares to be at a share holders meeting, you make a rukus until paid off to leave... Yakuza have been doing that very well since the G-2 Occupation days in Japan, hell they helped Gen. MacAurther at one point under the watchful eye of Yoshio Kodama. But would this tactic work for non-Yakuza is the BIG question? Because their aims wouldn't be to be paid off to leave the share holders meetings, but rather to have SAMMY leave SEGA alone. *Maybe I'll straddle the fence a bit more and do some research like I said before joining any radical movement group. With what I know about Yakuza... well I ain't playing in no playground with them that's for sure.

Well, yep, the Yakuza's omnipresence is a problem indeed and I wouldn't be surprised if we'd hear the name of this syndicate in conjunction with any friendly-or-not future takeovers of Sammy or another Patchinko giant, but shouting out insults without proof doesn't help here. The only way you could impress the shareholders would be to show them that a takeover of Sega by Sammy would eat into their profits. Damn Ferengi.

I mean, spreading rumours and calling Sammy's Hajime Satome a "devil boss" and "patchinko satan" while hiding behind an anonymously created web site is a bit childish, isn't it.

Actually, the real power behind the pachinko industry is the North Koreans, and the born-in-Japan-but-loyal-to-the-North Koreans.

A lot of money gets funnelled to North Korea via the Japanese pachinko industry.

True, the yakuza are also involved, but the ones running the show are all from the DPRK.

Yeah! Save Sega from Sammy! Allow them to bankrupt themselves in the next three years instead! That will show those money grubbing bastards at Sammy and the stockholders! Save Sega so that it can die!

IMO, they only put their angry first note into perspective. I've read the whole thing before I replied and I already stated my doubts about it, but the whole thing is not totally unlikely given the current market situation.

Oh and Talen, good thinking there, it's much better to let a few guys with a fat bank account and a calculator buy a good company and strangle it to death after the IPs have been exploited. Gotta love healthy competition, eh.

THANK YOU!

I swear, Sammy buying them out is probably the best thing that could have happened to them at this point.

Sammy = Money out the ass to fund Sega's wonderful dev teams.

Sega always had good games, but PISS POOR MANAGEMENT. Gee, sounds like another gaming company that I know about...

In a perfect world I'd agree with you but as it stands, they're in it for the money so why should they even care?
