Sammy again, eh... they're buying up stuff left and right to put it in their Patchinko biz it seems.
Well...
Okay, I have to admit that all this sounds very alarming, but on the other hand, there's something behind this proposed campaign that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Let me quote from the web page:
[...] It is probably worth mentioning, for those of you who enquired, that the we (the worried Sega admirers who put this page up) have worked closely with Sega in three major territories for years, and whatever the ultimate result of our efforts, we can guarantee it will not go unnoticed. As you can understand we need to remain anonymous to protect our careers as members of this industry, but what we can't do is sit around doing nothing about this desperate situation. [...]
Wait - an anonymous campaign where the makers remain in the background to "protect their careers"? Well... I not very fond of stuff like that, sorry.
Hey, I'm a big Sega fan, and the last thing I want is a hostile takeover by a company that already is about to swallow the IPs of my fave system ever, the Neo. Now they're obviously going for Sega, and since the fucking shareholders will speak the final word, we prolly can expect the worst. Damn money-grubbin' greedy bastards. Yes, money drives this biz, and no monies = no games, but in Sammy's case, it's not about the games but a damn gambling system called Patchinko that brings them millions of cash every month - easy cash.
BUT - it's my opinion that the guys behind it shouldn't try to aggravate certain ppl with Yakuza-references and stuff like that but to formulate a sound letter of protest and mail it to those responsible for the whole thing, signed by several thousand Sega fans. Perhaps even a call for a boycot would be in order, but you don't help Sega by dissing their competitors or spreading rumours. Nobody knows who this ppl are that put up this page, they could be die-hard Sega fans that indeed have a honest interest in their fave game company, but they could also be pissed ex-employees that are mad about a lost contract or job...
