the article is in french, but here it is summed up:
European Space Agency said that mars express has found iced water in the north pole of Mars and in surface. It s highly probable that liquid water lies in the depth of the planet, that would make a colony on Mars becoming probable.

I think Shatner did his own rendition of it.

Yes he did. Shatner has the unique ability to take a song and make it his own... if for no other reason than that its original writer/singer wants nothing to do with it thereafter. :D

I think you're reacting too harshly to this without ever even seeing it. Shatner's rendition of Rocket Man is a comedic gem, and partially responsible for the revival (albeit slight) of his career.

PS: There is no water on Mars! This is just an elaborate conspiracy by the Bush regime to justify sending men to Mars in search of Martian weapons of mass destruction!! :loco:

Bah! Shatner....Career!? I laugh at your joke!

HAHAHAHA

Now onto more serious matters...but isn't that why Bush sent Bugs Bunny to Mars long ago? Didn't he then rid the planet of Marvin's Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator?

There are no WMD's on Mars

Free Marvin!

So did they get the rover working again?

At this point they have said the rover is in "critical" condition and they are going to focus on Opportunity's landing rather than attempt to repair Spirit.

too true. however, Mars Express is an orbiter, so the evidence is based purely on spectroscopy. I'm not going to get too excited until we get some physical samples.

Either way, it means more mars missions in the future at least. Now if they could just improve on that horrible failure rate...

The failure rate has to do with the extreme cold on the planet which electronic devices fail at.

If they could develop a self warming device for the rovers it would definitley be beneficial.

Is this not the European mission that's found water rather than the NASA one anyway?

Yep, the European sattelite. While the news is a big suprise to everyone, I will still doubt it until we get samples which may take years to get due to the machines not being able to handle the climate. :(

well, that's a concern too, but I was more talking about the missions that were lost completely (ie Beagle, the Polar Lander, etc...)

it just comes down to refining mission design as we gain more experience over time.
