For first-party games, you missed out on Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness. Viewtiful Joe from Capcom is also a great game.

I would personally recommend these 3, but they're for pretty specific tastes. Some people didn't like Prime because it's a platformer with a first-person shooter view. Some people didn't like Viewtiful Joe since it's basically an old-school arcade 2D beat-em-up, modernized, and it doesn't have much replay value other than a few unlockables, and playing through again to try to beat your score (it's still amazing for what it is though). Some people didn't like Eternal Darkness because they're crazy.

Prime will still run you $40-50 at this point, but you should be able to find Viewtiful Joe for $30 or less, and Eternal Darkness for $20 or less.

If you want party/group games, go for Smash Bros. Melee, Monkey Ball 2, Mario Golf, Wave Race, or Double Dash. F-Zero is also a good racing game, but it's pretty hard. Don't bother with the Mario Party games. Wave Race, Smash Bros, and Monkey Ball 2 are really old, so you should be able to get them for cheap.

Other worthwhile 3rd party games: Prince of Persia, SSX3, Madden 2004, but these are all new games that will probably cost you the full $50.

You can actually get Metroid Prime for $20 at a gamestop or other store, as long as your ok with used games. Viewtiful Joe is also a must have. Personally I found Animal Crossing to be a must have beause I like wierd harvest moon like games.

I would say:

Resident Evil
Viewtiful Joe

and either, get Skies of Arcadia if you haven't played it yet (on DC), or wait for MGS: TS

Zelda will keep you busy for a while. it's really a classic (man just few months since I finished it and I feel like playing it again)

Metroid Prime is a Players Choice title now, so it can be had for $30 in most places, although I have seen it for $20 new. Check your local Wal-Mart, if you don't mind going to Wal-Mart that is.

Anyway, you should also check out Eternal Darkness. It's only like $15.00 at Gamespot.

SSX 3 is very cool. Super Monkey Ball 2 is worthy of being purchased. I really enjoy the Zelda's Collectors Disk, Viewtiful Joe has been mentioned so many times, I hope you get the point - its friggin' awesome. Need for Speed Underground is pretty cool, I enjoy NFL Street a lot, um man let me think what else, Mario Golf is pretty wacky, but its decent. I hear Mario Tennis is making its way to the GCN. Sounds like a smashing good time.

Speaking of smashing - Smash Bros. Melee is definately a title worthy of seeking out.

Animal Crossing rocks, it will suck the life and time from you with the amount of stuff you can do in it...but the beauty of it, the nicest lil NES Emulator you have seen, 19 NES games are hidden inside
