A few weeks ago, my dad's friend gave me a pair
of Technic 1200 MK something tables and a mixer.

Went digging a few days ago and picked up a cut
chemist lp, some lp with various sounds on it for
mixing and some "battle" lp with sounds and beats
on it.

So far, it's pretty cool.

Just wondering if anybody does this?

What do you spin bok?

CTH - I saw this movie called "Scratch" and since I
really enjoy the music - I suggested to my dad that
I'd like to start spinning - and the next day he came
home with the tables, mixer and he helped me hook
it all up to these massive speakers he grabbed from
the studio.

Just learning how to use them now.

Awesome. It's always looked like a fun hobby to me, but never have had the time/money :(

Studio - what's your father do?

I use to in College, then my stylus busted and I just never relpaced it (only one of them, I am lazy). I have a bunch of progressive and a little bit of hard house.

In stead of those sound sample records that you have I use to pawn shop and found these old Disney stories on book records. There is nothing cooler than telling the Disney story of Robin Hood over a peroid of mediators for a 3 hour set. I rocked... nahh

I also had belt drive tables, so I never mastered the art of scratching. I should just pick up some direct drives and start spinning again (although I have no one but myself to spin for.)

Mannnnn, thats like a 400$+ free gift. Lucky lucky lucky.

Double that. Those are $400+ a piece. Fantastic turntables. I spin hip hop just for fun, but recently I haven't done it that much as the basement is under construction, and my room is filled with videogame crap.

He was a Record Producer for long time, worked for
Sony, Arista, some others and he had his own studio
on the river...Triple Six Mafia when they were first
starting out - 8ball and MJG, Al Kapone, Skinny Pimp,
Most memphis stuff - Saliva, Korn, Some Manson Demo.
I really don't know or care who most of the artists were,
but he did that and then moved into the Concert Promo.
business...put on lots of concerts...Santana, Tony Bennet,
Most of the Memphis shows...did that for a few years. It's
really a long story I don't feel like explaining - but his friend
still runs a studio here - so he gave me the tables.

It's really funny because my mom is so conservative and
suburban...made for an interesting childhood lol.

Right now I'm a "turntable apprentice". A guy I work with is a mad wikkid 'ardcore jungle/drum'n'bass fan(just like I) and he's gonna show me how to work the tables like a professional. I'm plannin on spinning Jungle/Drum'n'bass(duuuhh), Hip Hop and maybe fool around a bit with some Deep house.

Then I hit it and give em cab fair in the mornin.

I am a numark guy sorta.. At home I have two numark tt-2 with a EM-460 mixer. At the station we have two techs 1200 and the same at most show I have done. I spin mostly progressive but I have been know to do some house. Has anyone tried the Pioneer hdj 1000 headphones? I am thinkin about pickin them up.

Also during my show I have 30-45 minute mix of the night so if you got a mix send it to me at the radio station with a track listing and I'll get it on the air.

AJK1080 you ever heard or seen bumble b? I just picked up some of his mixes at the record story yesterday and I here he is from Chicago.

Bumble B, nope cant say I have. Im not realy into any progressive, trance, happyhardcore, or anything other than underground chicago house. I know a little about DnB(ask neofight about this). The guys I hang wit in chicago are DiscoPhile, Paul Anthony, DJ Wreck, Alex Peace. If you wanna know what underground chicago house sounds like, pick up BadBoyBill: Bangin in London, Bangin in the Box 5, Behind the Decks, those are all great representations of chicago house. Lego is a great Chicago house DJ as well. I have the Pioneer 5000 headphones and they rock. Best hp ive ever had. I had some sonys and techs but those pioneer 5000 bang real loud and hard.

i don't spin turntables but i spin vinyl on turntables  :loco:

yeah i use both. [turntables & cdj's].
i do like vinyl more, just that there's some stuff i like that's only available on cd[or impossible to find on vinyl].. but yeah, the majority of electronic music is only released on vinyl so if you're intending to be a dj you defenitely have to include vinyl in your sets.

what i'd really like to get ahold of though are those new Pioneer DVD turntables. would be pretty neat to mix music videos[especially considering i've got thousands of electronic music videos and regularly get more]. only down-side to these DVD turntables though is they cost like $3,000/each and you need 2. :(

Yeah...I had seen those on the Pioneer site...CRAZY stuff...WAY to rich for my blood...I'mplanning to buy CDJ 800's in the summer...I like the fact that I can play tracks on CD that have not been released on EP's...
