He used to work at CEX in london. Lately he has disappeared from these pages. He stole from his friends and colleagues at CEX and sold bootleg laden conversion carts on ebay for some time. Speaking to others who have been scammed some of them big name members here. All of em are too weak to speak out. will ive had enough. people like RVF400 are crucified for far less, yet us uk members let a scammer like this pass. cos were too polite. im hoping cos I speak others will too. One guy came close to saying something but he was too chickenshit to say who it was. well im am not. Give this thread a chance and you'll thank me for it.

Anyway, I see what you're saying. It is pretty embarrassing to admit that you've been scammed (partially or totally), and I can see why some members here might just keep it quiet. I've been hit a couple of times with minor shit (carts weren't in the stated condition), but I just sort of dismissed it. But if somebody asked me for a rec about the guy, I'd definitely tell them the deal. I've never been burnt bad enough to want to go on a crusade though, but I know that there are QUITE a few people here that have.

I had a deal go sour with Kyo back in July. After buying something from him, I waited over two weeks with nothing in hand. Tried contacting him several times with no response - finally I filed a fraud complaint with PayPal.

Soon after the complaint was filed, he e-mailed me and said he had forgotten to send it out for the past two weeks. The avoidance and etc. had all the earmarkings of a scammer, but eventually, he submitted to a refund.

It definitely wouldn't suprise me if he's scammed a few people though.

Personally I know of 2 people who have been either ripped off or have been put in a position where they have taken the blowback from him trying to rip others off.There is another person that I know,who nearly got involved with him but someone else warned him about Starkey first so he was then able to do some digging and find more things about him and his dealings.

I'm not going to give the names of the people that I know he has scammed as its not my place to do so.If they want to let the rest of the community know how they were sucked in by this person then its upto them to do so.But from what I have heard there is a fairly wide base of disgruntled ex-customers of his.

On a side note,I have been reliably told that he uses several address's for his dealings,including his girlfriends and family members(just so he can spread the love a little further).

He is also supposed to have a sizable geo collection too,but you would if you borrow from others and don't return stuff,or in other instances just take peoples money and leaves them high and dry.

Add me to the list. I was scammed by Mark aka Kyo geo a few months back in a deal involving some dead mvs carts. Since than he's disappeared off the face off the earth ,and in that time ive heard numerous people were scammed and he still owes money to loads of people.But like soopa famicom says its up those people to tell their own story.

I will say this, he had all the chracteristics of a scammer, always telling tall stories, lying, and he always hid his own collection (like a con man who hides his own wealth) which is rumoured to be one of the biggest in europe.
In fact in all the time I knew him, ( and me and afew others were at a gaming get together at his girlfriends flat) I never saw any of his neo geo gear. even at the get together he insisted on getting me and neo*geo to bring our consoles and games down to his place. I guess he didnt want anyone to soil his own gear. and true to form, he tried to get me to leave my machine and games at his flat with a promise of a great deal at a later date. Poor neo*geo fell for it and is still owed something. as for me ive given up hope of seeing the fatal fury 3 he owes me.

On the topic of this huge collection he hides so well, of course he always claimed poverty saying he only had a few carts, and he only sold conversions to help others out.
Since than its emerged these conversions were incredibly shoddy and a total rip off.

Last i heard mark is working at a mcdonalds in st albans.No doubt biding his time until the next scamming opportunity presents itself.

Marks criteria for operating a scam is really quite sophisticated in the vetting system it employs.

He only picks on people who are good scam bait.

A) They must meet 3-4 of the following conditions. They must be: non aggressive
friendly and well spoken
In good employment which takes up a lot of their time
and always have a sizeable game collection.

B) failing the above he will pick on young kids (often at school or college) who are also impressionable and likely to fall for his false promises.

c)He really pushes the ex Computer exchange manager thing

So in answer to your question about why "no one goes around his yard to beat him up."
.......Mark knows....that the kind of people outlined in A and B, are also the least likely to get violent and the most likely to drop the matter if it goes pear shaped. You got to hand it to MArk he's a real pro and he always does his home work. Face it the guys good.Real good.

Mark had bought some AES titles from me on ebay, and all went well, we got on, he offered to make me conversions as well (but im not into them, so I said no) and when I told him I was opening my own online store, he called me.

THe first thing that jumped to mind was , how did you get my number? I never gave it to him, and I havnt put on ebay, and Im not in the phone book, but anyway, he told me he had around 80 carts that he really needed to get rid of quickly(which concernded me, why do you have to get rid of 80 in one go?). The titles ranged from the average to some nice ones, like US versions of sam sho 4, real bout special, mark of the wolves, he also had a big tournment golf(are these carts ringing a bell yet?). He wanted £5,000 for the lot, which I didnt have, so I didnt buy them. I know this is the same mark as he opnely told me about working in CEX(computer exchange) and how he took in the largest neo geo trade in the company had ever had etc etc.

Basically I didnt buy the carts, he sounded a decent guy on the phone and he paid for the carts he bought from me, but to my surprise, the ebay 80 cart lot appeared just a few months ago which got loads of people talking, which I didnt think much of at first, but when I really looked at the games on offer, im 99% sure, thats what I was offered a year before, and that auction was cancelled and most believed it to be a scam.

He's tamil by parentage and by adopting Mr ranatunga as his namesake he was just taking the mickey out of some older tamils who all seem to work in petrol stations. I met him when Mark borrowed a fatal fury 3 cart off me and told me Marvan owed him a Fatal Fury 3 for a conversion and i could get it off him instead in order to be reimbursed. Needless to say by the time the penny dropped both marvan and i had been duped.

Me and mark were close.He told me about most his scams altho he always justified them one way or the other in his own sick mind.Unfortunetly by that stage i was in too deep as Mark had 700 pounds worth of my merchandise.But I always told people to be careful in dealing with him.

He admitted scamming mario out of £200 on a huge deal
He admitted taking in £3000 worth of stuff from Neo Russ and marking expensive carts like Voltage fighter down on the CEX system so he could buy them for himself super cheap conning no one except the shop that payed his wages.
He admitted sending Yash25 in the store to sell bogus empty shell mvs carts. They did this scam together in London and birmingham. Yash 25 was also banned from CEX.
Mark admitted that once he was given his notice to leave he deliberatly took in expensive carts and marked them down as damaged on the shop system and pocketed them himself.
In short his reign at CEX was one of taking backhanders under the counter, borrowing and ripping off his colleagues, in short acting like he owned the place while taking it to the cleaners.

Mark lived at his girlfriends flat in camden. A 5 minute walk from the prince of wales pub. His girlfriend was a whore who didnt know about his scams.

I'll post the phone number to their love nest later.

Mark also operated out of his families expensive home in a village just off st albans. Ill try and dig up a number there as well

Mark claims to be half mexican. He claimed to have a brother who was gay.
When the CEX stint went belly up he said he was working as the manager at Mcdonalds in St albans.

I know being sacked from CEX flipped mark over the edge. He never thought it was coming and for all his pilfering and theft he couldnt understand it.
I was with Mark one day when he walked past CEX and i saw the guy almost in tears as he related how he "loved that job" etc etc. Deep down you get the impression this is one sick little puppy . A 27-28 year old guy whose never really grown up and learnt the difference between right and wrong. He needs counselling not physical violence!hahahahahahahah

I am only posting addresses in my thread.. that way people who have to mail any of these guys money or items will hopefufully recognize the names and/or addresses and not deal with them. I had a deal go sour with Kyo back in July. After buying something from him, I waited over two weeks with nothing in hand. Tried contacting him several times with no response - finally I filed a fraud complaint with PayPal.

Soon after the complaint was filed, he e-mailed me and said he had forgotten to send it out for the past two weeks. The avoidance and etc. had all the earmarkings of a scammer, but eventually, he submitted to a refund.

It definitely wouldn't suprise me if he's scammed a few people though.

he now goes by the name of ninja maestro in here and honey 0099 on ebay.

A little birdie tells me he also goes by theconsoliser on ebay too.

EXACTLY the same happened to me. ended an auction early on 3 carts, paid him £90, he said hed send them in the morning. 2 weeks and 3 emails later and nothing! filed a claim with paypal, 2 days later carts on my doorstep. avoid this one and all his aliases! :very_ang:
