I still have that Garegga Board up for trade from page 7 :crying:

Would you mind holding it until I get back from vacation (3rd week of May)?

I need to get a BG board, might as well be from you.

All i heard that was tweaked was the difficulty---to be made easier.
Which is bullshit.

I like my fucking games dipped in a shitstorm, coated with difficulty, sprinkled with rubix cubes, and SOAKED in impossibility. HARD = REPLAY VALUE.

Cave couldn't do that for you? For shame. :crying:

Really, I don't think you quite understand. Treasure, my absolutely FAVORITE developer, gets the KEYS to the VIC VIPER?! It was like a DREAM COME TRUE---and when I heard the news, I started to believe reality was nothing more than an extension of MY MIND.

It's almost more like they got the keys back...since likely the folks that originally left Konami to form Treasure probably were the ones who made the first couple installments (along with Contra of course). I've been looking forward to this game for a long-ass time myself, and I really hope it delivers. At least there's finally a date for the import.

I can only hope this entire project is successful from a sales standpoint, since it may lead to other things...can you imagine a Contra done by the real masters?
Holy shit that would be dope!

I am getting a SuperGun so that I can play more arcade shooters.
For Pro-Gear I have a CPS2 Capcom Impress Cab....
Kits of Ketsui, ESPRade, ESPGaluda are next on my list.

The PS2 version for sure. I have (had) all 4, and the PS2 one is the tops of the bunch.

Fucking sweet. Welcome back Yung!

For me, I'm still playing R-Type Final and DoDonpachi Dai Ou Jou. I have, however, been putting in much more time lately with Donpachi. I still love this game, and can play it for hours on end. Something about that time period in videogaming really appeals to me. The Saturn really was an amazing machine :)

*wonders to self* Will the PS2 overtake the Saturn as the best shmup system of all time?

Too many pages to read atm.

Currently playing on the daily:

- Border Down DC
- Psyvariar 2 DC
- Castle of Shikigami No Shiro II DC (easily one of the best shooters yet)
- Zero Gunner 2 DC

-Ikaruga DC (twice a month or more, cant get past 3rd or 4th still)

Still need Bangai-O and Mars Matrix for DC.

As for someone stated earlier which system to get Shikigami II for, if you have a DC go for it no questions asked. I heard there arent really differences and their all good, I still think DC is the better shmups system. The whole anti-aliasing vs. no anti-aliasing thing has always left me lovin the DC much more. Grannit PS2 has some amazing shooters as well (gradius V etc..).

Q-

The PSX versions of Donpachi and Dodonpachi were better conversions.

And yes, I actually think the PS2 is on track to overtake the Saturn with regards to number of great shooters. A lot has already come out, and we're just waiting for the library to expand with stuff like ESP Galuda, and other multi-platform releases.

Oh, sure:

1. The best color of the 4

2. New graphics enhancements for the baddies (new colors added and such)

3. Newly remasterd Soundtrack, voice and SFX

4. Smoother use of "Wait"

5. Higher resolution

6. This isn't that important, but: The figure it comes with is groovy!

Quick ignorant question here.

Games like ESPRade, ESPGaruda, and Ketsui are straight Jamma correct?

What's everyone system of choice for shooters?

I'm pretty sure that all Cave boards are straight JAMMA.

By system do you mean arcade or home? For home system, I thought I'd never say this, but the PS2 has become THE shmup system over the last year - way too many great shooters for a spirit-less next gen rig.

I don't care where the good games are to be found. As long as the games are good... And yes, the PS2 seems to be inheriting the Saturn's place as teh shooter system.

Does everyone here like playing on Tate mode if the option is available in
the game you're playing?

You'll hate my answer....but....my system of choice for shooters is...

MAME! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Sorry dude, but fuck all the space-consuming motherboards and shit.
I buy home versions when possible, but the fact is that MAME is indispensable for the true shooter addict. Otherwise, there is no way possible to play Guwange, Dangon Feveron, ESPRade, etc.

It's not as if I could even play these legit at an arcade if I wanted to.

That is correct, they are Straight JAMMA. I have an almost complete Cave collection, and the only 2 that are NOT Straight Jamma is Arashi No Progear (CPS2), and DonDonPachi 2: Bee Storm (IGS PGM, but technically made by IGS).
