Kinda errrr talk to me in french plz k thx:D

No but in all seriousness, I'm trying to learn French and German now that i'm living in Europe. From where I live now Luxembourg is 45 minutes away, and France is like a little less than 2 hours away so its like right there and while I can talk french with a fairly good accent (hey thats what i was told when i went to paris) and have not many problems asking for stuff but my vocabulary is kinda limited and its kinda hard for me to have good conversations with people when i want to. When I went to Paris and I was talking with some french-tunisian guys sometimes they had to kinda repeat words over and over again so I could remember what the heck they ment cuz i forgot so much stuff.

I'm aware i sound like a complete Idiot but i don't give a damn. I'm gonna leave this fucking country as a trilingual bastard you hear me! I already tried to speak a lil' bit in the francophone topic but i just got passed over, maybe cuz my french isn't so great at the moment.

so could ya'll do that for me?

p.s. if you hadn't noticed i'm like at the peak of my french-obsession phase at the moment. IAM OWNS YOU BIOTCH!!!

Any French I ever needed to know, I learned from that song that goes 'Voulez Vous Avec Moi Sey Soi' or something like that.

You need the "coucher" otherwise it won't work. :P That's roughly pronounced: "kooshay" .

J'ai ancetres Indien et Africain aussi. Mes ancetres Indian sont "le cheyenne".

Wow, Franco-Ontarien. I just learned something new!

C'est un peu etrange, dans ma famille, c'est mon pere qui a l'ancetre amerindien le plus proche, mais c'est ma mere qui en ressemble le plus.

Tu vas te coucher moin niaiseux se soir. ;)

Well, there are three "main" groups of francophone groups in Canada. You've got the Quebecois. They're the largest group and are the majority of the populate in the province of Quebec.

Next in size (I believe) are the Franco-Ontariens. We're mostly concentrated close to the Quebec border, and to the North of Ontario. Because of the province of origins, we're a "minority", although we've managed to snag quite a few rights to make sure we can have services in French including schools. [I've never studied in Quebec, but all of my education (except for English-language classes) have been in French from primary to post-secondary.]

Next are the Acadiens, from New Brunswick. Interestingly enough, New Brunswick is probably the only province that is fully billingual. However, there was a point in history where the Acadiens were deported and depossessed back when the control of the land changed from the French to the English. In fact, if I remember my history correctly, the word "Cajun" is a bastardization of "Acadien". I'll need to look into it a bit more though.

Edit: there are other french-canadian groups sprinkled accross the rest of the country. I think the next largest group is some Francophones near Winnipeg (Manitoba). And some others in the prairies, BC and the northern territories.

Anyway, Spin, if you want to continue to converse in French, I'd recommend PM'ing me. I'm a bit lazy and I don't bother going past the first page in the "latest posts" and alot of it tends to be occupied with dumb polls. :crying:

Spin, here's what you need to do. Head to Lux City and hit Scotty's. That's the hard part already out of the way. You will most likely be the only American there, so picking which hotty to be your instuctor will be easy. I met a chick named Natalie when I was there. She spoke 5 languages. I helped her with her English pronounciation and she helped me with my German. I just threw down my AMMO charm and that is all it took...or the fact that she had a broken leg at the time kept her from going anywhere too far:rolleyes: I hooked up with her for about 3 months then I was deployed to Italy (for the Bosnian conflict back in '93). After that, I hung out at a cool place in Farschweiler. Anyway, go to Scotty's, pick up a hotty and go from there. What you learn from that won't be taught in any classroom:glee:

Wow, I had no idea that Canada's french heritage went beyond Quebec. I had even thought the Acadiens came from Quebec. I love talking with people about this type of stuff cuz you can learn so much.

thats exactly right, Cajun is a bastardized word for Acadien. The cajun's are the "cousins" of the creoles. Their french is way diff from ours though because of their french-canadian origin whereas ours is from the parisian aristocrats(with a tad bit of spanish believe it or not). The Cajun word for bird is "le zozo" instead of "le oiseau"LOL. However the creoles say "le gato" for cat instead of "le chat" which is even crazier!

I really appreciate this cuz it will help me in the end. I truly plan on leaving this country with the ability to speak no less than 2 more languages

LOL AMMO Charm? WTF is that? Did you say "gimme an A, gimme and M, gimme another M, gimme another M gimme an O" LOL! j/k. Earlier you told me about scotty's. I think we'll go. Hell we may do it tomorrow after we get done shopping in trier. I got big plans for this weekend baby!!

Well, you might be amazed how common that is, even to people inside Quebec. There has been some division between the Quebecois and the francophones outside of Quebec as well. During the start of the seperatists mouvement, we were occasionally refered to as "dead ducks", or "warm corpses". There was doom for us, we would all be assimilated and become "English". A few people still believe it... To them, we're history or irrelevent. It's ironic that a few of their big stars are actually Acadien, with a few Franco-Ontariens in the mix.

It's been a while since I was going through my history. Interestingly enough, in early 2000, we've finally started to get a decently budgetted TV series that highlighted moments of Canadian history. I've got the DVD's and watched through the first batch, but it was still 3 years ago. :P It tries to be impartial by presenting the English and French points of view... It also occasionally paints US heroes in a different light...

Hehehe... "Zozo". I think I used that when I was a first starting to speak. ;) I believe acadiens use something like: "Espere-moi sur le corneur" to say "Wait for me on the corner." My mother would sometimes blurt out things my grandmother used to say when she really got mad: "T'es mieux de t'wincher l'autre bord!!!!" (Rough translation: You better get out of here!). Then again, this is the same woman that taught me to call cows "minou" (kitty).

I have a big interest in languages myself. My only problem is I don't have many people to practice with. I know French and English. I've learned some Spanish and some Japanese but it's pretty much all gone since I don't have people to practice speaking with. Right now I'm trying to get my Girlfriend to learn French (a big plus if she wants to get more contracts) and I'm trying to pickup Malay. ;)
