Capcom's Massive Plans?

January 14, 2004 - Sources in Japan have given a sneak peak at Capcom's plans for the year. It appears that over the period covering 4/2004 to 3/2005, the company will be releasing between 30 and 40 titles. Specific details on the games have yet to be revealed.

Capcom will be holding a product announcement meeting at the end of January over in Las Vegas where it will show off many of the titles planned for the year. Stay tuned to IGN for more then.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Wouldn't it be really cool if Capcom released a CPS2 collection that was XBOX compatible? Alien vs. Predator, Darkstalkers, Street Fighter Alpha 3, 1944, Rockman Power Battle, Rockman Power Fighters, Super Street Fighter 2 X, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Dungeons & Dragons Tower Of Doom, Dungeons & Dragons Shadow over Mystara and other maybe!

But just think about it. Who wouldn't buy that? All those games and XBOX Live compatible. And please please have Alien vs. Predator on there! That would be a pretty good compilation if it were true. :crying:

Street Fighter 4: The Last Battle

an SF game to end all SF games with every notable Capcom character ever made, plus about 12 new faces, all tweaked and ready to go, no cheese and pleanty of ass woopin'. But alas, like with many dreams, it'll prolly never happen. Those 40 something games they are talking about will probably be more mainstream crap. *But oh I'd love for them to prove me wrong.

yeah another Street Fighter, hell even another Street Fighter III update would be great. A collection disc is a great idea, everyones doing them at the moment : Namco Musem, Midway Arcade Treasures, Activision Anthology ... clearly shows their is a market for some of these things

My idea for a new Street Fighter was a prequel. Have Gouki, Gouken, and Gouketsu (i think that was the other 2 names) a much younger Sagat, Chun Li's father, a younger Bison, Gen, and some other new characters. No Ken or Ryu, except maybe in a background as kids or something.

Call it Street Fighter Legends, but something not that cheesy.

Uhh... THAT WAS THE JOKE JHendrix. You and I and everyone else knows that Capcom could put the world "Last" in something and about 10 other entries come along. *I mean heck look at FINAL Fight, there were 3 of them and a fighting game that despreately needed REVENGE! But you gotta' admit if Capcom ever did use that line of...

...man that be the best marketing ploy evar. People who had even left the series would suddenly be all interested, Capcom makes more money, they wait about two years then come up with some "Reason" that the balance needs to be restored to the natural order of things. *Strange how you took that as an insult?

I have a feeling we'll see another Darkstalkers from Sammy before Capcom. They did nothing but speak highly about using Darkstalkers characters in SVC (Sammy vs. Capcom

)

In fact, I think the whole GG series was heavily influenced by Darkstalkers.

It's all good JHendrix... looks like we were BOTH joking then. I just think it be bitchin' to see such a marketing promotion for the SF franchise is all. Because we all know that Ryu will still be doing Hadokens when he's got a full head of grey hair and his dragon punches take 10 minutes to pull off, but he'll still be "a fighter" to the last weeze. :smirk:

I wish Ken and Ryu would just pass the torch. I guess they are staples of Capcom (like Terry is for SNK), but could they at the least give the lead of the series to someone else for once?

Alex got it partially, but even that was shot down by popular Japanese opinion.

I'm really tired of those fighting game fever for the past years. I just wish Capcom can release old titles on PS2/GC/Xbox:

- Varth
- 19XX
- Magic Sword (arcade-perfect, not SFC/SNES crappy port)

Remake the following titles:

- NES Mighty Final Fight (better graphics)
- Forgotten Worlds (arcade-perfect, please!!!!!)

Sequels:

- Forgotten Worlds 2
- Tenchi Wo Kurau III (Warriors of Fate III)
- Varth II
- MERCS III (it'll beat Shock Troopers' ass badly, BBH

)

I hope they always have Ryu in the SF games. He is one of those timeless characters to me, like Mario, Link, Sonic, or anyone else of that caliber. Terry Bogard is SNK, and Ryu is Capcom. And that's how it should stay, IMO.

Anyway, having SF4 be released would be great, or some kind of SF3 compilation. I'd like to see Hyper SF2 get a U.S. release, in that fancy package, but with online play added. I could play that game online forever. I also want more information on Resident Evil 4. It's been announced for like 3 years, and all we know for sure is that it will get a Winter 2004 release.

yeah like this time the only Ryu in the game is Evil Ryu and the story would be how he got turned over by Gouki/Akuma and is actually the main boss.

Either they hired about 200 new people, or they are going to be in crunch mode until late 2006 (when they finally ship the last game)... feh... would hate to work for Capcom. That's like the teacher at school going "Hey... we are going to do 50 paper this year, and have 50 tests!"
