Had a chance to watch this game a bit at Mak Japan (in Akihabara) last week. Looks like it's got some good Metal Slug appeal to it, but I decided to hold off a bit til the price comes down a bit more. If I don't get it in the meantime, I'll probably pick it up at the end of the year when I go back to Japan. What are your impressions/opinions of the game? (You're right -- I haven't seen too many PGM owners, either
).

I just got my kit including a motherboard, all like freaking new from Dougdesensi for $180 shipped to Australia!!!! It is soooooo worth it, and I think he may have more copies. Send him a PM if ya can spare the cash, great guy to deal with! The thing I've found with 'Demon front' is, straight away I started playing it like Metal Slug, but in time ya realise that it is in fact a different game in more ways than are initially apparent and you gradually change the way you play it and get killed a hell of a lot less

One things for sure though, the PGM has a tough hardware set with heaps of punch, and it's clear when you're in the thick of things and there’s almost no slowdown at all. This is quite strange after being so used to the Neo struggling at times. Amongst other things I guess it's the 20MHz MC68k CPU versus the Neo's 12MHz.
One other thing that really impressed me right away is that the PGM's horizontal resolution is a nice high 448 pixels compared to the standard 320 of most standard res games giving it noticeably higher level of detail in things like blades of grass and roots of trees. You'll notice this if ya take a peek at Demon Front particularly.
On a serious note though, there are those that just compare it to Metal Slug and if it doesn’t do what MS does for them, they don’t give it another chance. It is a great game, very polished and well worth a look. Being a bit of a MS clone isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially done this well!
