The polls are turning into a cancer, please... every other post is a poll. We obviously can't use them properly, please turn them off.

It might settle down in a week or so.

Don't blame me. I voted against them.

Maybe this should have been made into a poll?

i think it would be good if people of a certain number of posts could conduct polls... what do you think?:smirk:

What about some mechanism that only allows each member to post one poll a week? Or maybe we should let post polls only in the warroom.

Its all well and good saying if you dont like the polls, skip them, but trying to find a thread these days which is not a poll is quite a daunting task ;)

With polls too, they should just be polls and not a poll and a thread as it defeats the object of a poll, as some people reply in the thread while others post in the poll and some do both.

I will say one thing, considering MOST members are in their 20s ,many people in the war room act like they are still at nursery school with the dumb fuck polls and topics i have seen of late.

I reckon it'll eventually stop when people get bored of the new "toy". The idea of only posting one poll a week is a good one..but the one in the war room..well, take a look in there. every single topic, just about, is a poll.

I still think the idea of having the poll feature gained after a certain number of posts, is a good plan. Maybe in addition to having the limited access to it.

We can't judge people by the number of posts under their belts. Big post counts mean nothing, I would suggest we just stick it through. It's a new feature that many want to try out. In a week or so, the forums will be back to normal. Kinda like when you first registered and you can't wait to post, but sometimes you spam it up cause' it's something new. That is the way some members here are acting towards the new poll feature, so let's not take it away just yet.

Yeah, exactly. If you don't have over 10,000 posts, you can't post polls unless you are a mod. That would eliminate all the polls but EvilWasabi's and whatever else the mods want to post.

Actually, limiting the poll posting abilities to members with higher numbers might not be such a bad idea.

First of all it would drastically eliminate the number of new polls being posted.

Second, most of the older members are here mostly for the games. Allowing them to post polls would at least mean that some game polls would be created.

Finally, taking poll posting power out of the hands of newer members would mean that the same polls ('Who is Stronger Ryu or Kyo' etc) wouldn't get posted over and over.

I've tried not to complain, because I think people will cut it out after a while. Just ride it out and not vote

simple as that.

Very true.
I've seen this scenario play out before in the past.
Time will defeat it if we dont.
Either way, its taken care of.
Notice it was only popular cause Shawn made a thread concerning it. (I dont understand the big deal).
Yet, if it was always available, at this very moment without anouncement, I bet you next to nobody would use it.

Theres nothing wrong with a poll, its just when every other thread is one, well, we all get kinda tired of reading questions. (We make the choice, granted)
I think its and oblivious option personally.

So far, 90% of the polls started by normal members are a total waste of time and bandwidth, but well, I don't really care. On the other hand, I don't believe that it will run out that quickly.

So what... General and other forums are boring now anyway, a few stupid polls don't make it any worse.
