Slight sound problems with an NGH

I have some problems with the music on an NGH system. Sometimes, the music statics. Other times, it will have weird effects, like some of the instruments not being played on the continue screen on SS2. Could this have to do with the connectors being loose? It happens with every game I've tried recently. Also, I got the connectors replaced, I believe, in mid-2001 when I got a Phantom-1 and system mod from !Arcade!. It's not ruining the gameplay, but it is sometimes annoying.

If it means anything, it's a Korean unit by Vic-A.

I don't think being a Vic-A is a problem. I had a Vic-A and it was just fine with sound. I would guess, after owning three of them and two cabs, that the sound is poor sometimes because of loose connections from cart to game. I only say that because I had problems with few mvs carts that weren't in all the way, or properly I guess, and they would give static. I'm talking pretty bad static.

You may have a sound issue on the board itself, however. All I could say is the obvious: Clean your carts and system well. Clean all the contacts and what not. However, that may not be a problem. Bootlegs? That's my last guess. I only got static sounds when using bootleg games... but, that's a wild guess. You talk about a phantom... what games give you trouble? AES? MVS? Maybe it's the phantom? More info please...

Well, the SSII is an AES, and I sometimes play WW7 and Ragnagard on MVS. I'm pretty sure WW7 is legit, but not so much so about Ragnagard. I play the MVS games through a Phantom-1. And the static isn't even constant. It just creeps up from time to time.
