Nothing like popping in an MVS game into your machine and then have a suspicious hunch that you bought a bootleg. I got King of Fighters 98 and I realized that well sounds were missing as well as a few secret chars. I open up the cart and much to my surprise the Top and Bottom boards are made in different years all together, and some rom numbers don't match up!

What I want to know is this. how the hell do these people make these damn bootlegs!! And if they're making them bootlegs why can't they at least try to fool me with putting in the proper roms?
Oh well I'm just mad about boots!

In case you were wondering about technical aspect. I guess it would be the: How the hell do they make the boots and why can't they at least fool me with the proper romset?

If by fixed you mean lacking sounds then sure. But I bought mine from ..get ready... Caroles-collectibles. BAD MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!! I know he posts on this forum too. Anywho.
Anyone wanna give me a bootleg or an original that works?!?!?! hahahahah I'm just teasing about the bootleg. But I would like to I don't know , fix or trade for a working KOF98? I just wish the bootleggers will "FIX" the MVS with a perfect romset at least. PM me if you know how the make and get away with these bootlegs. I want to make a website about how bad they are.

Cosmicco DOES sell boots. When they send you the price sheet, if the item has a * next to it, then it's a boot... just in case you weren't aware.

Actually, Japhei, Carole's Collectables and whatever else he goes by doesn't post here. He's sort of... perma banned from the boards for selling teh boots and being a cunt overall.

"I'd" take out the boards, fill the case with fkn dog shit or anything rotten you can find and ship it back to his ass..
Hey you could fill it with Crickets,Roaches,Worms etc..whatever you could find at the local pet store...they'd sell dead insects too..

Just send it with a fake return address, from the next town over..:D

I guess 19.99 was just too good a price. I was a FOOL!! Can someone of you guys explain what is meant by Fixing an MVS cart?

If it's just cleaning it, do not reply. Cause I know that isn't the case.

Thanks for the help though. :shame:

Fixing an MVS cart would be when one (or more) of the chips in the cart goes bad and it's.. well, repaired. It's easy to diagnose for someone that knows how (definitely NOT me). You would then remove the dead/faulty chip and solder on a replacement EPROM chip, which is where ROMS originally came in, I believe. ROMS were/are the images from the individual chips in the cart (M1 and so on); someone simply puts an EPROM into a EPROM burner, has it copy the proper ROM data to the chip and solders it to the board where it belongs.

And $20 for a KOF '98? Yeah, that was pretty stupid. No offense. At least you didn't pay the $50+ going rate and get a boot...

Offense taken :crying: :crying: :crying: nah J/k.

Oh interesting about FIXING boards, cause I have a legit Samurai Shodown 2 that has a Z80 error for the SOUND. I believe the sound chip on the board went bad. Cause everythign else is solid. Where would I be able to get that fixed. Someone please PM that solution.

As for the KOF 98 boards, hell yeah I'll post pictures. I'll post them on here later this afternoon. I'm going to an arcade warehouse today hoping to find more arcade goodies, maybe even some MVS carts!!

:p  By the way, What the HEll is this supposed to be? ->:multi_co:

Oooh, I see in the other thread you say it's korean. I searched, and apparently kof 98 korean is missing a few things from the other version.

So it's original, just korean.

that game is real, judging by that pic

Hmmm...I was expectig to see an ugly mess of wires/EPROMS etc..
But it looks original..

I'd like to see the soldering though..

I'll open up mine later on tonight and post pics to compare it to.

each board has a different date printed on them...are u sure that isnt suspect for not being 100% authentic?
if someone asked Japhei, he might even be able to provide a birth date for the cart

I should have known. Well look, Everyone hates Japhei and now they can hate koreans to, for destroying KOF '98. It's one thing to be Korean, it's another to Destory an MVS game cause you hate Japanese. Damn you Korea!!!! At least it isn't Salubai Spirits 2
