Broken, frozen MVS board

Hello,

I have a 4 slot MVS board that up until recently had been working fine. Then one day I removed the bottom board to solder wires to the JAMMA connector for speakers, and when I brought it back upstairs and reassembled it, it no longer worked. When I power it up, I just get garbage on the screen, and nothing happens. I noticed that a few pins on the bottom board had been bent over, on a row of resistors, so I straightened them out but the problem remained.

The weird thing is that if I remove the top board, the bottom board boots up fine into test mode without any errors, and I can do the color tests and whatnot. I assume when I shorted the board out I damaged something, any idea what component might be causing this problem?

That was the first thing I checked, but it freezes with or without the switch set, with or without any games plugged in.

You know how when you first turn on an MVS, you get some garbage on the screen before the game starts up? I get that, but it never gets past that.

It's very common for one of the connectors that connect the two boards together might not be pushed in all the way.

I cleaned both boards off, including the connectors, and made sure they were firmly pressed togeather, and now it's working again! Thanks for the help.

I had actually just ordered Samurai Shodown V when I first realised my MVS was no longer working, so I was worried I had just wasted 100 bucks. I got a great deal on the MVS, paying less than 30 bucks for it since it was broken at the time, I'm glad I don't have to pay full price for a new one.
