MVS Audio/Speakers - Loud Hum?

I boot my cab up, and about three seconds later I get
this loud hum. Then about three seconds later, I hear
the mvs boot up music...so I open the cab and I'm in
it...and it sounds like this loud hum is coming from the
moniter. I check the speaker wires - they are fine and
everything looks normal.

Anyone ever have this problem before?

Everytime I power up the cab, I hear the HUUUUUUUMM,
kind of a high pitched whistle...but it doesn't seem in any
way connected to the speakers...moniters ever give any
body this trouble?

Thanks,

shir0

my monitor hums all the time, but the game sound makes it not noticeable.

It didn't hum at first, and it goes in and out...but it's
really annoying and loud. I also thought it might be
the power supply?

I really want to get rid of the hum.

It's really noticable.

I've tracked it down to one red/purplish wire.

Seems the more I move it...the less the hum
becomes...wierd.

I don't know anything about cabs or monitors.....

But I have read somewheres that an Isolation transformer can start to hum over time.......... Has something to do with the casing getting loose and lightly vibrating......... can get really loud over time.

try this: Turn the brightness way down, and mess with the vertical and horizontal frequency pots, see if it'll do any difference.

most monitors have a humm/buzz, its the ferrite core that does that.

I had a similar problem,

I played around with the settings on my powers supply. The monitor was getting too much power or something. tell me if that works.

you cant have messed with anything on the power supply.

The monitor uses the same voltage as your local wall outlet, but it passes through an isolation transformer first.
But its the same voltage.

The only "more voltage" or "less voltage" thing one could mess with, that would affect the monitor, is the b+ pot on the flyback. And if you put too much, you'll destroy your precious little monitor ;-)

Thanks for the help so far guys...as much as I'd love
to mess with the power...all I can really do is turn a
little knob on the PS...which helped but then it started
again. I thought it was the fact that my plugs aren't
grounded...so I went to Home Depot, bought a 13 amp
cord and swapped them out...old cord was frayed and
horrible. That also didn't work. I mean...besides the
fact it is now a grounded cable.

I'll try the brightness thing next, but it didn't do that
when I was at the guys place of business, so maybe
something jiggled loose?

Thanks,

NO!!!! Dont mess with the knob on the PSU!!!!

It regulates the +5v line, too high and you could BURN YOUR PCB!!!
