Ok, I'm playing my AOF2 [circut boards only] and I say to do, say, Ryo's Zanretsu-ken, and the game just pauses. Now, I just got my NEO-GEO, and put the boards in wrong the first time, and that was it. The joystick is the old style, but the end cap is lose, so it slides off and I have to push it in, I thought maybe I was pushing it in too deep, so I held the cap in place, and put it in to the depth it allows.. And it still did it. The NEO-GEO also has a BIOS Chip, what's up? Did I get ripped off or did I mess it up?

Hmm,just having the baords only stuck in the top of the machine is always going to be a bit dodgy.
You may have damaged something by inserting one of the boards in the wrong way,but if the end cap is loose on the cable then it shpows someone has already had it open(they need some squirreling to get them off normally).Make sure all the wires under the cap are still tight and secure and none are loose in any way.
Also check that all the legs on the BIOS chip are soldered on properly and that none have come away and aren't making a proper connection.
No real solutions but just things to think about.
