I just wanted to know if somebody of you who already has received his Samurai Shodown V / Zero cart encountered some technical problems.

I just received my US copy and I started playing. After 30-45 mins I had the problem that I couldn´t move my fighter BUT it wasn´t a complete freeze as the timer ran down. After this round everything was ok again until 5 mins later the game resetted itself !!!
After this incident everything was ok again and I played on for another 30-45 mins having no problems.

Now I just wanted to ask if anybody else encountered similar things and if I will have to start getting paranoid :(

Please let me know folks. Thanks.

Sounds like a contact problem.
Playing the game a few times (inserting the game a few times),would probably stop it.
New games sometimes do this.

I have a Jpn. version SS0 and it works fine. If you go to the General forum here at Neo-Geo.com and click on the SS0 homecart thread, someone had some audio problems. Maybe you can ask there.

Hmmm...that is a point I also head in the back of my head.
And you might be right: normally we have to put the new game several times into the console before it works.
In this case it ran after the first insert and I did not reinsert it at all.
I just might have to do this again some times, maybe it works.

Thank you.

But if anybody has encountered something similar please still let me know.

By any chance are you playing on a 1-slot board? Alot of the newer games have similar resetting problems with that hardware.

No, I am talking of the AES version, but it seems right with the contacts as NCS has told me the same.

And to be honest, I only put the game one time into the console and as there were no graphics problems as usual with new carts, I just let the cart in the Neo and now I am pretty sure that the contacts are the solution.
When I am playing the next time I will remove the cart several times before playing and the thing should be fine :tickled:

Actually, you couldn't be more wrong (no offense). New carts have almost a protective-like "film" on the pinout, and the cart either has to be inserted a few times or cleaned to get rid of it. Every brand new game I have ever purchased for the neo had to be cleaned for it to work 100%.

I think you got it wrong ;)

I meant that it was this problem BECAUSE I only put it in the console one time, as the contact thing is absolutely right.

Normally we HAVE to insert the game SEVERAL times before it works, but I think I said this in a post above.

So after all you are saying the same thing as everybody else told me in this case - REINSERTING the game several more times and the thing should be solved :glee:

Thanks for your help, it is nice to see that you are not left alone in such a case.

ResOGlas is very likely correct...

SNKP may have made an executive decision to update their manufacturing methods, and get with the times. Face it, how many cart-based systems exist nowadays, among new designs anyway? Only portable systems...

I've heard of this very think laquer manufacturers put on their copper/gold-clad dataports, called Oxyban. Typing it into a search engine won't get you much but being in the electronics industry, I have heard of it. I believe it is Isopropyl-soluble, and can be removed with good rubbing alcohol and q-tips.

And of course reinserting the cart repetitively scrapes away the coating where the conductive fingers (on the cart) slide inside the gold sockets.

On the Japan level in Sengoku 3 (brand new cart from neostore), I had garbled audio which went away after the second insertion.

OK, I start believing that the SSV carts are really sensitive as I really cannot believe that SNK-P could produce such a variety of errors.
One person had completely fucked up sound, one person has only problems with a special console or partial sound errors.

I really think that the contact cleaning issue should be the solution to this problem so I will definitely do the reinsertion thing before playing next time.

If I remember SVC, I had to insert it like five times before I could see the graphics, then another time before the sound was finally clear, so why shouldn´t the SSV carts have the same requirements.

Now coming to Setsuna´s problem: I really did not care about this sounds explicitly, so I better say nothing before I tell you something wrong.

Maybe somebody else could tell you this, but I will definitely have to wait until I get the chance to play again.
I am really sorry :(

My Jpn copy was all messed up when I first tried it, almost paniced but remembered this thread. The frist time I put it in I couldnt jump, the second time while I was fighting Ukyo my screen went crazy and all these letters and numbers ran across the top sort of like what happens with a boot. The thrid time I reinserted, the game worked fine. All I know is that its a very scary feeling when a 335 dollar cart doesn't work when you first put it in.

You are so damn right Xenvu, this is one of the worst feelings I can imagine to experience.
But I am really confident that the reinsertion is the deal as we never had so many defective carts, if any, so we can sit back and play :buttrock:

Same thing happened once when i played my mvs cart on aesmode on a modded aes home system. i had no other problems with it on my 4 slot in either mode.
