EDIT: what I need help with is way down at the bottom :)==============================================

Im trying to hook up my Atomiswave via VGA but am having some trouble. Here's what I have done...

I hooked the system up to my TV that supports VGA and SVGA and automatically switches between them.. but it does not read the signal coming in.

I have the #1 dip switch on!!! :)

I then hooked it up into an older (much older) vga monitor and I got picture, but the screen flipps upwards... (kinda like when using a PAL game on a US TV on the 50 setting and not the 60....

Then I hooked it up to my brothers monitor and got Nothing!! His monitor has the 9 pin on the cable for +5v out, but niether my TV or the older monitor have this pin on their cables...

Then I just read this:

"2. The Sammy Atomiswave cabinets pictured on the web site have standard resolution monitors only. They are not high resolution using the VGA capability."

I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I am kinda stuck here. Since the picture comes through on the older monitor, I know it works, but why doesn't my rca mm32110 TV with dual vga support, read a signal coming in from the Atomiswave?

any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

I think the VGA signal that the AW outputs is really weak. My older 15" LCD doesn't detect a signal but my new 17" does. I still have to manually adjust the screen position because the 17" puts it way off to the side and I have to move it back. Still, I only had to do that once and it remembers. I'm lucky in that my 17" LCD has one DVI and two VGA inputs I can switch between so I don't have to keep moving the image around.

my TV picks up the vga signal from the dreamcast...but not the Atomiswave :(

Do you know why the screen flips on the older monitor?

Is there any way to strengthen the signal? Anything I can buy to run it through?

My brother monitor is brand new!! He got it like a month ago and it goes black when the game is hooked up to it. Everything works great in RCA and S-Video......

But I am worried that there is something messed up with my Atomiswave and only have a couple more days to reply under the 10 day warrenty......

:help: ........please!

I don't think there is anything wrong with your kit. I actually thought there might be something wrong with mine, but since it was brand new in a box with no damage at all, I thought that unlikely (especially since I would have expected NO VGA signal, if it was damaged somehow). Since you're having the same problem, I suspect that they are using some 'easy' way to convert the RGB to VGA which is causing a weak signal.

My 15" LCD just goes into standby mode, as if there is no signal, and it takes my 17" a good 20 seconds or so to lock onto the signal, at which point half the image is off the screen and I have to move it all the way back into position.

Now I have tried a third monitor and still no single that comes without problems. This time it was all-black again.....

This is really to starting to piss me off....

One of the main reasons I got this system was so I could put it through VGA on my TV..... and now I can't even get it to run like that on any monitor and my house or garage. Sure, the S. video signal is great........ but the damn thing said it put out VGA and I expected to do so.

Does anybody know of a way to strengthen the VGA signal? I don't care how much it costs, as long as I can get this thing to show up on my TV in VGA!!!

What monitor brand are you using?

Has anyone else got their atomiswave systems to run in VGA?

this is typical to out-of-sync from a weak vga signal but can t be sure it will boost enough... i ve never used a vga amplifier the only problems i had were from vga cable beeing too long and getting shorter one did the trick :/

i hope it s solved soon :)

Has anyone ever used one of these VGA amplifiers for anything? Not even this brand, but any VGA amplifier? Can they mess anything up?

Does the Atomiswave have an S-video hook up? Meaning you can hook it straight up to a TV?

problem could possibly be the mm32110. i have a mm36100 (the 36" model) and at times can be VERY picky with the vga inputs. it runs my pc and dreamcast just fine, but it took quite a bit of work to get my xbox, ps2, and gamecube (with a component to vga transcoder) to show anything properly. about 2 hours in the service menu (1st hour was writing down all the default values) and the second one fine tuning all 3 systems. what would help is if you knew the exact vga resolution the atomiswave spit out.

i can send you some info on the service menu on a few rca mm***** tv's, but i am no where near my home, and won't be till monday. just remember, that messing with the service menu can possibly screw up your screen to the point of needing a service tech to reset it back to factory default.

Well, I definitely don't want to mess up my TV... and I really want this to work...

Do you think amplifying the VGA signal could mess up my TV?

I'm pretty sure it has to do with a weak signal from the atomiswave so hopefully this will fix everything...... and there will be no need to dig inside the service menu.

Thanks for the advice though and I would appreciate any help you can give me once you get home :)

Thanks

I considered buying one for my Atomiswave, but then I figured that if the signal isn't strong enough to begin with, it might have no effect. I mean, VGA amplifiers are usually used when a really long cable degrades a signal that begins strong at the source. In this case the signal is weak to begin with; I've tried two really short shielded cables and they both yielded the same results.

Let me know how this thing works when you get it.

No problem :) I hope it works because this thing cost 75 bucks,lol........

And I don't think there is much of a demand for one, so reselling it isn't really an option....

So, today I get an e-mail from those people linked to above and they say they are out of stock and my order was deleted.........

Yet they still have my order entered as submitted on their web site....... and I sure hope they haven't charged my credit card.

So now I have some new questions about VGA amplifier's

is there another kind I can get are another place to get them from?

What's the difference between this VGA amplifier and the VGA distribution amplifier's?

distribution amplifier would be to split the vga input signal into 2 or 3 vga signals without level loss.

The amplifier i gave you the link just has an input and its only job is to amplify it to the single output.

Well, i couldn t find much online, maybe you would have better chance visiting a local electronics retailer :/

Most of the VGA amplifiers I have seen are part of a box that allows the use of two or more monitors.

Thank you very much! I will try and look around, but I'm not sure if any of the stores around to carry that type of stuff, since not many online places even have it...

But at least I know what I'm looking for :)

I am not really sure about the duplicator/amplifiers as I believe they are just to keep the signal the same......

But I e-mailed them anyway and thank you very much for poking around for me :)
