Plugging in joypads into my cab

Hey guys, I'll be getting a top loader in january and a jellybean stick for christmas. My question is, until I get the cd system, can I plug the sticks straight into my pcb without removing any wiring to the existing joysticks? I have a 2-slot pcb, and as far as I know the joystick ports are working, but I really want to try out my new joystick to see if it works. Does anyone know anything about this?

Both the sticks on your cab and the sticks you plug in will work........
