Neo Geo Memory Card Reader Installation questions?

Hello,

I looked around, but I couldn't really find anything about installation of a Neo Geo memory card reader? Do you just plug in the cables? How is it powered? What is the 4 pin connector opposite of the card slot used for? Are those headphone jacks on either side of the card slot?
Also, is it possible to mount the MV-IC directly to my 4 slot board? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.. :spock:

You just plug in the two big wires. If the reader isn't recognized in the Test mode...turn off the system and swap the connections....you will not hurt the system in you have the input and output cables crossed.

teh 4 pin connection is for the headphone jacks, there should be a coresponding 4 pin connection on our MVS board for the headphones.

as for mounting it directly on the board...well if you could drastically shorten the cables...or do some serious soldering I guess it would be possible. Otherwise it is seperate.

It'd be careful though..don't want to accidently bridge any circuits by getting the pcbs too close to one another.

Regarding the hook up of the main connecting cables, CN6 & 7 on the mvs motherboard connect to CN6 &7 respectively on the MV-1C memory card reader board.

There is no power supply required for the reader board as there are no active discreat components, it is simply an interconnect .

If your cab doesn't have a location for the memory card reader board..
I would suggest making some sort of box for it and mounting it in the cab..or a piece of wood/board.
The problem with putting the memory cards in these is that they are tight and click when all the way in..
They are not easy to get in as say compairing to a Playstation memory card.

That reader board needs to be secure so you can get the memory card in and out easily.

If your just going to leave the card in it then you could just leave the reading in an enclosure in the cab..
You don't want to handle the reader board a lot while the cab is on by taking the card in and out..you may short something out.
(If it's not fastened down)

As I look in the Candy and think of where I could put it if I didn't have a location for it..
I would say if I left the card in it I would mount it on the board (underneath)the mother board..(The one in my Candy is wood)
You could lift this board up to get the card in and out...with no major modification having to done to your cab..(if you board is high enough and you have one)

The reader Cables in my Candy Cab have a A & B on them..
The A Cable goes to the inner port on the Reader board and the B on the outer port.
Your Mother board should have a A & B stickers or marking on it..yes.?
The B port on the Mother board is the Inner Port..

I could take pictures of the Reader etc..in my candy or the one in my big Red..
If you need them PM me with your Email address.

(I keep Editing to add info)

Can anyone tell me which one 6 or 7 is on the outer edge of the memory card board and which is on the inside. I've been having memory card issues and I'm not sure if it's hooked up right or not. The headphone jacks work. I suspect my card is bad though. I thought I've tried it both ways, but I can't see the header names with how they mount that board in the 4 slot machines.

(Edit ..I'm fkn blind..)

Cn 6 is the inner port on the reader board..

I just checked out how my Rig Reds cables are hooked up..
Both the Candy and Big Red are hooked up the same.

Cn 6 is the inner port on the reader board..That cable (Cable A )goes to the outer port A on the mother board.

I took out the board and I can't find anything saying CN 6 or 7 like the reader does.

I keep running back and forth..to the cabs.

Make sure your cables are all the way in.
Make sure the memory card clicks when inserted all the way into the reader.

Take a look in the memory cards reader port..
Make sure none of the pins are bent or missing.

All of the above.
Also you can not rule out a faulty card, the wiring may be fine.
Flat battery perhaps :(

I'd rather someone have it that really needs it..

Or post in wanted for them..
I think that may be easier..

Someone really ought to make and easy adaptor to link the memorycard reader up. THey would probly make a lot of money and would really be loved by the community. Somebody step up :multi_co:

If I could source the 68 pin PCMCIA sockets at the right price wouldnt mind giving it a go. I think the demand would be there.

Done some searching but come up with nothing, anyone know who stocks these.
