Hello all,
I'm looking into picking up an Atomiswave system for GG Isuka and other future releases, and have been perplexed by the general lack of information. So, I called Sammy USA today and talked to a sales person and a tech. Thought I'd post the info since other people might find it useful:
1. GG Isuka US release at least is not until late January. I had formerly seen dates of 12/03, but maybe this was just for Japan. They have no pricing info yet.
2. The Sammy Atomiswave cabinets pictured on the web site have standard resolution monitors only. They are not high resolution using the VGA capability.
3. Prices for the Sammy cabinets with game (Dolphin Blue or Demolish Fist) range from $2700 - $3300. Ouch.
4. They have no idea so far what the plans are for AW-NET in the US. They like all of the bonus options, card interfacing, etc mentioned, but whatever happens in the US will follow whatever is first tested and implemented in Japan, so it could be a while before any AW-NET support is found in the US. I asked about the capability of playing a game like GG Isuka 2 vs 2 on two systems connected through the internet, and they said internet play like that is on their minds, but it would be implemented after the other AW-NET features are running.
5. They said power-wise, the system just needs ground, +5v, and +12v so it doesn't look like there should be any special issues with power. To anyone using one of these, what are you using for a power supply?
6. GG Isuka will support 4 players on a single Atomiswave system. The game will come with a I/O expansion card for plugging in joysticks and controls for players 3 and 4. This card will fit into the I/O port on the top of the system near the JAMMA connector.
7. I asked about region restrictions, and while the answer wasn't the clearest, it sounded like the system is basically region-free and that language is a configurable option in most games.
