Power supply indicator woes

The PSU in my standup conversion cab is red, which according to the sticker on it means it "needs adjustment". I assume this means the little plastic knob that looks like you turn it with a flat head above where all the ground wires are screwed on.

But, I really don't know exactly how I should be adjusting it. I've never messed with an arcade PSU before. I have a multimeter that sucks, but I should have a better one soon. Can anyone help me out?

Oh yeah, is there a chance a badly adjusted PSU could cause monitor anomalies?

It wouldn't cause problems with the monitor per say, but it may cause video glitches on the PCB if the voltage is too high or low.

To adjust it just turn the potentiometer until the light is green(many will turn green when it is outputting the right voltage). However, for a more accurate test, stick the red pin on your multimeter on the +5V input on the JAMMA harness(with the game running) and the black pin on a ground on the power supply, and adjust until you get around 5.1V

Can I do that while the unit is on? I was worried about damaging it.
