Does S-Video Mod on AES Affect RGB Performance?

I had Maas Systems do the s-video mod to my Neo Geo home system several years ago. I know that the composite video output deteriorated after the mod, but I am wondering if the RGB output is altered at all? I am considering purchasing a SCART-YUV convertor to connect my Neo Geo up to the component inputs on my TV, but I don't want to spend $100+ to find out that I've got crappy RGB output. Does anyone have any answers?

By the way, I was looking at this convertor: http://www.converters.tv/products/converters/other_products/46.html. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get it at well as a Neo Geo SCART cable for a good price?

Thanks in advance,

Ohh wow, I was trying to find a link to an affordable RGB to Component video encoder. That looks like it might be a good canidate since it supports NTSC as well as PAL. Might have to order one. :D :D

'Course, question is: Has anyone used one and hows the quality?

I've got a similar one except it has an audio pass through....the video quality is really nice.

The audio pass through was important for me because I use the encoder on my snes, saturn, dreamcast as well as the neo through an RGB-Scart switchbox, however it is possible to find one with additional RCA outputs for sound that you could use to pull sound out of all the consoles before they hit the transcoder, I haven't seen that in an automatic switchbox, just one or two manual ones.

Sorry to spam, but I've already got my 21 hitachi monitor and rgb cable so all I'm waiting on is my XRBG2 plus.

My only qualms are that Kennys s-video mod may have adversely affected my Neo's RGB output.

Does anyone know if this is the case?

By now I've seen all AES revision boards and can tell by experience that none of them has a 100% satisfactory RGB out. Even the early units which are supposed to be the best ones have a very dark picture. If you're serious about your Neo, the best thing to do would be to get rid of the internal encoder (and all its components) and put a jrok in its place. And tap the RGB signals directly from the source, where they are identical to their MVS counterpart. Check this pic of a machine I've modded: see how much room for fitting a jrok comfortably once all the crap is gone?

Well, I just learned that Kennys S-video mod does affect the Neo's RGB output.

I have 51,XXX model Jap AES, so I've heard that it delievers a good RGB signal.

Mind you, I am not looking for perfection, I'd just like something better than s-video.

Thanks for all the input!
