I'm considering to buy a MV-1C MVS. I saw at HardMVS that's a mono-only version. It's possible to turn it stereo through modding, like AES?

The best you can do is add a second Mono Jack, this will still be Mono Sound.

I've never heard about anyone adding stereo sound to a mono board.

The only 1 slot board with stereo sound is the MV1, it has a switch for both mono and stereo sound.

I have one for sale if anyone is interested.

I'm asking it just because it's possible in AES. And since MVS and AES uses the 'same' hardware...

if you want to do a stereo mod on a ngh system, then you only need to grab the stereo signal off the headphone jack.

there was a thread about stereo mods a few months ago ...

it is possible, i read online some time ago, but it is very complex and is not worth doing, maybe if you buy some fancy dolby digital amp, it could add stereo effects.

I did it to my MV1-A a while ago, not very complex. It's definately worth it IMO.

Cool! Can you just telme how difficult/different from the AES mod? I'm trying to figure out if I could be able to do it myself.

Thx!

I have a MV1-A as well, if it isn't too hard I would like to mod it for stereo output. I'm only wondering where I could find some instructions/tutorials.

@Robert: Actually, I think most MVS mono boards can actually be mod for stereo, that's what Supergoose was pointing out.

The main thing to understand is that the MVS and AES hardware is generally the same, but the audio pre-amps and primary amps are different. On the MV-1A, 1FZ, 1B & 1C there is no stereo pre-amp and thus there is no stereo amp implemented either. Though this is not to say the low level signals aren't there to work with!! The MV-1F(S & T), MV-1, 2F, 4F & 6F all have stereo pre-amps and primary amps to output this if the cab has the facility for stereo. There is how ever a mod for the MV-1B which apparently works (I haven't tried it on mine!), unfortunately the bookmark I kept for the site I saw it on is no longer valid, though if ya can find it maybe there are some similarities between the boards as to where to source the low level stereo outputs and hook up your pre-amp to those little baby surface mount resistors. Hehehe ya must have a steady hand and a nice fine tip on your soldering iron!! Just to make it clear as I didn't formerly mention it, you will need to build a fairly basic stereo pre-amp, but it ain’t that tricky so give it a shot!:D
