PLEASE PLEASE can anyone help?

I got this cab and it had a coin slot that worked fine etc, then i decided to change the bulb. Being a newbie to cabs i too the old bulb out and replaced it WHILE the unit was on. Have i caused a short circuit? the bulb isnt on, but even worse, it wont recognise when i put a coin in...and im ANGRY at myself.

Can anyone help? I cant play some jamma games as they need coins inserted (not all have freeplay like mvs)

Its a mars mech from what ive been told....I really need some help. If anyone helps me, and it works, i will pay you $10, i sware and send it to you.Thats how desperate i am. i cant find anyone locally who can take a look at it either.

:crying: :crying: :help:

I found the model is MS111 if that helps?

CHeck your ground wires all the way back to the PSU. Coin mechs are VERY touchy to shorts, to the point of.. if you close the door incorrectly, it'll short it.

Also, check the leads out to the mechs, they're daisy chained, check to see if the metal on the mechs is pinching your wires.

Are you talking about the game not recognizing you have a coin, or just your LED display on the control panel? If it's just the LED display, it's because you swapped out your US bios chip. Hope this helps.

If that isn't your problem, try changing the switch that reads the coins. You can buy a new one from Happ Controls .

When you put in a coin, does it come out of the coin return or into the coin box? Does your MS111 mech drop the return coins from the bottom of the mech or out of the front of the mech?

Mate i think youre getting closer.

Okay, it comes out the front. It used to drop into the coin tray, but now it rejects every type of coin and comes out the front.

......getting warmer?? :spock:

Hmm.

Hey there. Does the microswitch work when you click that? You know, the switch the coin hits when you drop it through the slot. (just in case you didnt know) If that does register a credit, than it sounds like your mech is messed up. IF all else fails, honestly, my family is in the game biz. I can give you a phone number if you pm me (1-800, toll free.) we can either walk you through it, or send you a brand new coin mech. Let me know Slug.:)

Ok the reason I ask is I have a load of MS111 coin mechs, do you want me to post you one to try out?
but first try opening the flap of the top of the mech and clean it, if the coins are returning I'd quess its not the credit board, and if the bulb is lite its got power. It might be you knocked some dirt/dust inside the mech and its isn't registering the coins, like I say open the flap and give it a go blow and make sure nothing has got into it.
If it still doesn't work PM and i'll send you out another mech to try.

You do not need the lamp in for the coin mech to work as I have the same model and mine has never had a lamp in it..

Hi Ripps I would like a couple of spare lamps for the mars ms111
coinmech as my lamp is missing and I dont know what lamp to get...Cheers I am happy to pay you, please reply....Thanks...

I'm 99% sure the bulbs are the same as fruit machine bulbs, my bro is into Fruity's and has loads of spare bulbs. PM me and I'll get a couple in the post.

Well, the coin light being out or gone would not normally affect the ability of a standard coin mech to stop taking coins. Aks you this...does your mech assembly have lock-out coils in it? If they do, then that's your culprit. Is they're shorted, they will not allow any coins to pass through, no matter what mech you put in. Not knowing the coin door layout of your cabinet, it's just a guess but I can tell you it has nothing to do with not having a light.

Click the credit switch manually to see if it still works. If not, touch the two wires going to the coin switch to see if it's giving you credits. If the answer to both questions is no, check the ground connection leading to the coin door back to the board for any shorts.
