Bought a deluxe Neo 4 slot Saturday for a 240 bid, plus tax and auction fee was 289 and change. Great shape and came with 4 games. Anyway I've got a few questions and things I'm looking for

Ok first, my green coming from the board to the monitor is touchy, I know its the harness because fiddling with it it will click back in looking perfect. So my question is, is the harness standard JAMMA even though I know the Neo isn't completely standard JAMMA? What kind of price am I looking at for this.

At some point I'll look to replace the joysticks and buttons, anywhere cheaper than those BIN sets on eBay that are roughly 40 bucks?

Also would be looking to replace the CPO, and I need whatever sticker goes over the headphone jack/memory card area as my has those inputs just no sticker to show that they are there. 1 coin mech light bulb is out. I know this is a rambly list, but if you can point me anywhere for these I'd appreciate it.

Also anyone know the color codes for the white and red of the cab? I'd like to fill a few screw holes with putty and generally touch it up.

Granted I shouldn't be starting this project as finals week begins but I'm just gathering info.

Thanks :)

I may be able to get pics tomorrow.

Congratulations!!!

Another member wrote this one..(for the Red.

a la Home Depot. I took a chunk of my 6-slot's front panel in (it had chipped off anyway).

Colorant OZ 48 96
KX White 0 2 0
R Exterior RE 3 36 1
U Magenta 0 8 1

It looks pink going on, but dries the correct color. A quart set me back $8.50

The bulbs for the coin door can be bought from a Auto parts store.

The memory card sticker is a bitch to get(not attainable) but I can send you a scan of one to make a home made one..
They look sweet when done right.

I bought one of the joysticks and buttons, BIN sets..(not sure if it's the same as you saw)But the set I got was great..The sticks I have in my red cab are so precise that I can pull of any move with them..
The ones I bought are very similar to my old originals.

Lots of info here..
This site will become very usefull.

Does your cab look like my Red cab or similar..(Smaller top)?

It's the same cab speakers and all

As for the button sets

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3259257647&category=13718

or this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3258701813&category=13718

is what I'm looking at, although i don't really want the 1p 2p start buttons to have people on them.

LOL.:D I didn't either..:D

Man either set was exactly what I bought but the First set looks good and decent..and very close to what I bought..
It's a great deal..
Every time someone plays games with the sticks I bought they love them..

I will leave that to other opinions..

I did some searching and only came up with 11 items..
My sticks have a very thick shaft in the Neo Geo,,but I can't find any up for sale..
I want to buy another set for the Tekken 3...
I replaced the sticks and buttons with a different set I bought awhile back(spare parts)But I want the same ones I have in my Neo.

I'd go with the first set..But..I notice he has a set of red sticks that I think will work..
Maybe he will give you a set with Red sticks..I think the Red sticks are cool..(but don't buy that set it's missing the Select button)

Note..I've been up for almost 3 days..
I was going nuts with the weather all weekend trying to figure out how to get through the snow to pick up the candy cab.

I have no clue how the hell I'm still up..

Asked the seller and all three of the white buttons are just plain white :) yay so I picked those up, That's the only thing function wise that I almost needed to fix.

Hopefully some pics soon :( does no one on this damn campus own a digital camera?

Hey Guys,

Keep in mind that you can always order parts for push buttons, coin mechs, and joysticks online from places like Happ Controls:

http://www.happcontrols.com/

It might be a little easier than trying to rely on Ebay or auto stores to try and find your bits and pieces.

Ironically enough the guy who usually sells the sets of joysticks and pushbuttons on Ebay actually charges less than what it would take to purchase the same things from Happ. Plus you get the feedback to boot.

And I can't imagine he could possibly charge more for shipping than Happ does.

I would recommend frequenting Happs page and watching for the specials they have on a pretty regular basis. That's when you can pick up your joysticks and pushbuttons for cheap. Even when getting overcharged for shipping:)

Also check your local phone book for vending and amusement dealers who are local to you.

For instance my local Betson has higher than average prices compared to Happ, but on some items the price difference is quite negligible and it is nice to be able to both get the item immediately and not have to pay for shipping.

Especially on hefty items.

There is a Betson's within driving distance of me..

I bought a couple of those button & joysticks sets from
tngamesales.. Very good seller.

A couple of things though, like you, I don't like the people
on the buttons...

The joysticks they include are not the kind SNK used, which
are the Super Joysticks. Most of the time they include either
the competiton or the ultimate. You can get the Super (SNK
kind) from happs though, for like $15 each.

chris1, I would recommed looking up their phone number and giving them a call. If you've got the part info they can usually tell you over the phone if they've got it in stock and how much it costs. If you can't tell exactly what the part number is, take it with you and the people there can likely tell by sight if they've got it. Or even possibly suggest an equivalent item.

What your looking for sounds like it should be fairly easy to find.

Betson has a website but it is ancient and the pdf catalog is several years old. Oddly enough they were handing out new ones at an auction I was at only a month ago. I wish they'd get off their duffs and place the updated one online...

Yeah, I'll eventually pick up a pair of Supers from Happ but for now I just need a couple joys that work better. A couple directions are a bit sticky, and most of the contacts that push down the microswitches are bent or something. Some quick plier work by me got them going ok. But for 37 bucks, I like what I picked up :) I e-mailed and they said all the white buttons are plain which is good. The sticks are ultimates, how are those compared to competition or supers?

Just trying to give this a good cleaning and look over before I leave SO

I've noticed none of my mini marquee lights light up, at all. So I'm looking to see if there are any things to test. If they're just burnt out I'm good leaving em like that but if its something else I'd like to try.

MV-ELAsm.jpg
I've located this, and traced all the wires and both light panels are hooked up okay, so is there anything that could go bad on this board that could be replaced or tested? Thanks for the help.

In my experience,
I've never heard of the driver going bad so most likely it's the MV-ELD LCD Panels(bulbs that are burnt out..
http://www.hardmvs.com/html/marquee.htm
Do you hear a any noise coming from the bulbs..?
Press on the lines around the bulbs,(while the game in the machine is selected to the corresponding bulb) sometimes there's a break in the line/s thus creating a broken circuit.

I get them from time to time but they are very hard to get...I've sold several working sets already..

The link below is the only alternative I know of..

Press on the lines that are on the sides of the bulb..it may get brighter.
The only other hope for bulbs is Ebay, and I tell you..It's chancy.
You could win a set and they won't work too.
I sometimes get lucky and sometimes I strike out..
If I get boards with 1 or 2 working bulbs then I transfer them to another board with working bulbs etc...to make a fully working board.

They are pricey too,if you can find them..
A working set could run up to $100.00 or more..

Or you could put a one bulb light in it like the Candy cabs have.

Yeah I'm ok with them not working, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a simple fix. Since most of the time this thing is in a fully lit room its not even noticeable. Thanks for the help. I may have a question or two tomorrow, but if not it sits for a month while I go home for break :(
