That's not such a great idea as one of them is "hard pause", in that it can pause the machine at any point, so it won't even load up. It should work with all dips off, i.e. all in the up position!
Try that:)

Be sure to have all hard dipswitches in the boards OFF, that is, up. Does it still not work?

if i do all DIPS the other way then, i get lots of squares on my screen, and i can press START to cycle through options

Sounds like it doesn't think you have a cart in the machine, try a different cart.

flick all the dips to off, and clean your motherboard and carts thoroughly, then try re-inserting and seating the carts.

What cleaner should i use ?

also how do i know which way the DIPS are ON or OFF ?

above DIP 1 it does say ON. so if i flick ALL DIPS to up (ie on?) i get the WORK RAM TEST thing
if that on or off ?

the work ram test will be caused if all the dips are flicked on, or down, it'll be in game mode when all the dips are off, and it'll boot the game in the slot.

try turning it on with no cart in, it'll go to the test screen right?

well thats when the dips are all off, now put a cart in..

turn it on .. and hopefully it'll load...

congrats.

but it probably would have worked with the old BIOS too, it just needed a good clean.. maybe..

its a rare possibility the old bios was fried/dead/a little bugged out somehow but meh..

enjoy

Ah, it's already working, good. I came in late, you'll get this if you need to clean a cart before throwing it in, as I had success with all my MVS games, but it would do this with my KoF 95 when I played that. After cleaning, it works fine.

Glad to see you're enjoying your MVS setup!

Heya,

Good to know you got it working!!! It was my 1 slot that Shiwarrior bought off me, and I figured it was probably the carts that needed cleaning. Another tip is to push the cart all the way into the slot and then slightly pull it back out, that works 9 times out of 10 for me.... MVS carts are notoriously fussy about that sort of thing :)

edit: just remembered that I sent the uni-bios to you seperately - hopefully the old bios isn't fried, but it probably doesn't make too much difference if you have a uni-bios installed as you will probably never want to go back to that anyway ;)

rule #1. always clean a cart when you first receive it. you have no idea where the hell it's been.

look at the old nes system.none of them really work properly because people rented games and played them without cleaning them.every game has been in 1000 systems.it really fucks things up. that mvs cart could have been sitting in a cab rotting away for years collecting dust. then you put all that dust in your system when you inserted it into your slot.

buy very strong alcohol. over 90% to get a nice clean cart.
