Hi everyone, newbie here looking for some :help:

I just received my SuperNOVA from MAS Systems today and I hooked up my MVS 1 slot board to the system no problem and turned it on. My games seem to function ok at first (I first tried Metal Slug 2) but between loading levels it will flash a green screen with what looks to be blocks or squares and then reset. I thought it may have been the game so I tried it with MotW and Samurai Shodown4 and got the same problem. It seems to be between levels or fights that this happens.

I'm completely new to this and don't know what could be causing it. Please help me if you can, I finally got my MVS after years of looking into it and now i'm having problems :( Thanks in advance.

sounds like a problem with the cartrige connector being dirty....

What is the best method of cleaning that? Compressed air? Or is there more that I should do? I don't want to damage anything

Thanks guys, hope this works. Is this type of problem ususally caused by dirty carts or boards?

It could be a combination of both, but as none of your games work its probably dirty cart slots. I seriously hope that is your problem as its an easy fix. Good luck.

Also be sure to check to voltage. Sometimes that can cause weird reboot problems.

Sounds like the 5 volt supply may be slightly low. Check it at the mother board. Set to fractionally above 5 volts.

Well I did get the cleaner at the store and proceeded to clean my slots and carts and got the same problem :(

I'll try the power supply next. Where exactly do I go or what do I do on the board to adjust the power to just about 5 volts?

Thanks guys you've been a great help :)

There will be an adjustment on the power supply for the 5 volts.
Measure it at the mvs board. There will be voltage dropped in the harness so measuring at the psu may give a misleading reading.

Do I need to open up the SuperNOVA then? I just bought it and told them it was for a Neo Geo 1 slot board, they said they would set it up right. I don't want to go prying in there if there's something easier I can do. There is a "FUSE" knob on the back, maybe that would do something?

Here is a screenshot of what happens if it helps at all (sorry about the glare, it's green with those blocky things you see):

If i turn them all on I get a brown screen and the game doesn't load. I hope this board isn't shot

I get that screen when I first turn on my 2slot, stays for maybe 3 seconds and then the game boots. No reset problems though. I will get that screen again when I do a soft reset with the Unibios, but the game loads.

I've seen another 2slot that does the same thing upon boot that worked with no problems at all.

I'm pretty sure that screen corresponds to the hardware checking the backup RAM, or battery, as my other board stops on that screen and has a backup RAM error.

Its definately a hardware check though, (states blindingly obious)

It's not a knob, it unscrews so you can change the fuse if it blows. If you want to adjust the power you need to open up the nova and mess around with the power supply.

I feel dumb hehe, thanks for the info. I also get that green screen for 2-3 sec on boot like you do, then the game comes up.

Well I tried flipping the dip switches, I left 2 on and turned off all others and enabled the continue screen (wasn't on before) and now it seems to work fine. I don't know what exactly fixed it (the continue screen or dip switch 2) but I have tried everything to make it reset as it did before and it hasn't reset once. I'm so happy I have it working!!! :D

Thanks for all your help guys, you rock :buttrock:
