Ok I'm new here and yes I did use the "search" function and found many threads on Power supply but none of them seem to really tell me what I need to know. I got my Japanese Neo Geo AES system a couple days ago and of course I thought the system would just plug in and "work". I plugged it in, turned it on, and the power light does not even come on. BTW I live in the US.

Serial Number is "2963553" and it says "Rating 8W;Use Pro Pow3 adapter only"

I have the Pro Pow3 adapter that came with the system.
SNK
Model Neo-Pow3
Input: AC100V 50-60HZ 19va
Output: DC 10V 1000mA

Is there something I can purchase to make my system work in the US? If so can you please post a link as to where I can purchase something to make my Neo work.
:help:

there is no power light on a neo.

before you assume the system is dead try a sega genesis adapter to test the system; it may be a dead adapter. if the does not work, then it is a dead system. ;-(

Actually, there is a power LED inside the later systems, which include yours.

You must look thru the right-rear "vent" behind the cartridge slot. There should be a red led which illuminates once the power switch is turned on. If not, then something is definitely wrong.

PS - You need an AC adaptor that outputs either 9 or 11 volts DC & 750ma or 1100ma

Input: 110V
Output: 9V 850maH

This is the genesis 1 adapter that was suggested earlier

The genesis 2 & 3 adapter is:

According to this chart the polarity of the Genesis 2/3 adapter is wrong for the Neo (which is positive outside and negative inside).

pro-pow 3 is a 10V 1000mA power supply (although there exists a revised version that is 11V 700mA). Even though the voltage is slightly lower a Genesis 1 adapter should be able to power up a pro-pow3 Neo...and the polarity of the plug is correct.

Well I have an adapter that is adjustable, but all I can adjust is the voltage output
Input is 120V is that too much?
I can set the output to either 9V or 12V, and it appears to be at 1000ma no matter what. Do any of these numbers sound like they would fry my system?
Thanks again for all the help it is much appreciated.

the 1000ma doesnt mean anything. it just shows how much power the adaptor can supply.

using 9 v is fine. if your machine starts to reset it self or stop working sometimes, try turning up the voltage. 1 or 2 volts is not enough to fry your machine!

Well I have the red light on that is inside the right rear vent on my system, so it would appear I have power. But I still have no picture or sound. So my question now is, has anyone ever had problems with the AV cables (yellow and white plugs) that come with their system? Is there different ones I should use or should I buy an RF adapter? Or could it be that the old Neo plugs just don't work on newer TVs?

Thanks
