Greetings,
I have a very early US aes with the daughter board, and i'm having some video trouble. The colors look ok for the first 10-15 minutes after I have my system turned on, but the colors start to bleed pretty bad after that. If any of you own an older aes w/ the daughter board, can you compare yours to my photos? It appears that something was once soldered to the bottom-right pin on chip on chip cxa1145p, Should something be grounded there? If you need any more photos, i'll gladly take them. Thanks

Ugh...I can't believe it came that way straight from the factory. The pin you mention (pin 12) is +5v and as far as I know no components are supposed to be soldered to it (but maybe someone at some stage needed voltage and tapped it from there, who knows...). The two wires coming from the daughterboard: one goes (through a cap) to pin 6 of the video encoder and the other is soldered on the top of the crystal, which is a ground point. And quite apart from the dirty and sloppy soldering job it's should be OK. I suppose the variable capacitor (the orange thing near the crystal) may have to do with the color bleed.

Can I just adjust the variable capacitor with a screwdriver, or do I need to replace it? The color bleed is pretty bad.

Also, would I need to adjust the variable capacitor on the daughter board too?

But wait a minute...there's a missing resistor near the variable cap, see picture 2: there are 6 resistors (6.8k and 2.2k alternating) and the 7th resistor to the right is not there (I think it should be a 1k).

This looks normal.

After modding so many units, I've seen it all. That's how some of the early units left the factory.

I wouldn't worry about it.
