Greetings everyone.
I recently aquired a US neo geo aes console and the composite video quality doesn't seem to be as good as my japanese system. It seems that the picture gets slightly cut-off to the top and right sides. Also, When I play fighting games, I get a fast panning effect on the health bar (I'm not talking about the regular rainbow effect). Is this a refresh-rate problem, and if so, Does that mean that I have to replace the crystal in the system? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

All i know is that the picture quality has a lot of variation depending on the AES model.

Back in times, my AES had a verry weired problem, the picture was "pulsing" depending on the action on screen. I think it was related to the amount of lightness in the picture but it was annoying, could see the life bars moving of few milimeters (the whole screen in fact but most noticeable on the life bars white frame) at each effect... annoying and horrible in fatal fury 1, tung fu ru second round ^^;

That's my exact problem! At least i'm not alone. So it's just the different revision of the console? I can't believe the difference between the US and JPN! Oh well, if I ever upgrade to S-VID, I guess it won't matter anymore.

But the standard s-video mod I believe you will still see some rainbows in the picture, plus its still not nearly as sharp as it could be. Really a different RGB encoder chip is needed to fix that (or a whole replacement module like the JROK).
