I have a US MVS four slot machine, and I want to put the unibios in it. How hard is it for someone that's never done something like this before. I really want to play some games in JPN.

Thanks,
Spike

It's only slightly more difficult than removing a MVS cart and putting another one.

I start to think Raz should put some pics of this process in his site, just to convince people on how easy is this.

Still, you can practice by removing the bios in your board (the socketed chip) and putting it in the place again.

No joke? Where might I find one of these for sale, then? No soldering or anything, eh?

Mine was a pain in the ass to install.

One of the screws that holds the metal case to the board was stripped and it was not coming off, so I had to take the screws off of the bottom board to get to the bios. It was well worth it though. The Unibios 0wnz. The Cheats and console mode are awesome.

Send a PM to Razoola to get the unibios. Buy it from the man that made it.

The only legal way to buy a UNIBIOS is straight from Razoola

Or you can download the image from the website and take it to someone that can burn the image to an eeprom. I suggest buying it from Raz.

Also, I think getting the 4 slot apart is far more difficult than actually installing the BIOS. Basically once you have removed the metal cover and pulled the 2 pcbs apart, you can then access the bios (its on the bottom board). Take 2 small flat head screwdrivers and put one under each side of the bios and slightly twist them and the bios will lift out. Then place the new bios back in the socket (take care to make sure the pins are in straight and proper orientation) and then push it down into the socket.

Robert Wallace took some photos of changing the bios on a 2 slot. Though the board layout is of course different, the idea is the same.

I second that. Every so often i see people posting in the wanted forum for someone in the US to sell them a UniBios. I always thought that was silly as dealing with Razoola, even though he is thousands of miles away from most of us, was one of the smoothest transactions i have ever had. He is a top notch seller and has done wonders for the home arcade user community. Show Raz you support and buy the UniBios straight from him!

Read my lips:

NO.MORE.SOLDERING

Just buy it from Raz or download it and have it burnt at an electronics store with an eprom burner. I did the second.

You are right, but Spike says he has a 4-slot and my reply was directed to him.

I thought the MV1-B and MV1-C were the only ones with soldered bios, anyway, but I could be wrong. By the way, my MV1-A has it socketed.
