I've been looking around for a good Supergun to use, and came across this site .

The prices are low, and those superguns are what I'm looking for. I know they offer a Video converter so I can use composite cables, but how about the power? Would I be able yo use this in the US and how would the power of the unit be affected? Thanks for any help in advance.

I am still wondering why so many USA people want a Uberia supergun... I thought they would only be appealing to European users...

The price is very nice, but I'm not that sure it will still be when you add the shipping and the cost of that converter. Not to mention composite would suck, you would need s-video, and I bet there are better options for that, such as the JROK encoder.

About power, most likely (but check first) the supergun's PSU (power supply unit) has a 110V/220V selector switch, so just put it in 110V. However the plug would be different (3 square pins), so just use a regular plug-adaptor to the US-like plugs.

There wouldn't be any problems with lack of power or too much power giong to the unit?

I have an uberia supergun on my mv-1fz and it works perfectly. I love it because its so compact. I would definately recommend them. They built mine the day I placed my order and shipped it the following morning. Great service and great product.

That external encoder box isn't used any more, for U.S customers it's a JROK.

If the PSU has a 110V/220V switch, just set it to 110V and you won't have any problem.

So now are you using the JROK, Kern? Then the video output should be really nice, I guess s-video, and at a competitive price. Still, is it installed internally in the supergun or in some sort of external adaptor device?

Keep in mind that you need a custom made SCART cable for your übergun if you use that. You have a scart cable going from your main unit to your encoder right? I guess they went for the standard euro pinout on it but the Japanese uses another pinout. It's really easy to do yourself with a bit of soldering though but getting scart cables in the states can be a bit hard I can imagine.

uberia is NOT a real business.
it was just a project of kernow and his buddy, while he was at uni. and yes, their guns have always been listed in the wrong section over at the sgr.

kern is gone, so don't expect an(y) answer(s) to your question(s).

Uberia

Hello, I am Paul from Uberia.co.uk. I would like to say that I do not normally get involved in forums but I feel I must clear up a few things in this particular situation.

Firstly. I would like to appologise to Thrall.

"I tried e-mailing Paul at uberia to make me a special cable for the X-select D4...to use on my ubergun but with no response from him"

I did have some problems with my email server a little while back, if I missed your email it was probably due to this reason. If you resend your request I would be happy to help you out (assuming the cable required is for the JAP RGB standard there will be no problem at all getting one out to you.)

Secondly. To Supergoose79. I have much respect for all your work that I have seen on these forums and also the supergun repository.. You are obviously a very talented person, but.. You have put my nose slightly out of joint by saying that Uberia is NOT a real business. Well.. heres some news for you.. UBERIA IS A REAL BUSINESS. I set it up myself, and yes it did start as a small project for me but as the business picked up I saw fit to continue it and set up as a small business.

For your information (and I dont have to tell you this) I opened a business account in the name of Uberia with the well known "Barclays Bank PLC" in the UK (where I live) and I have cards, paying books, cheque books and bank statements in the name of Uberia to prove it. I am able to accept payments in the name of Uberia and for extra information the business account has been running for just over 1 year now and I get plenty of good feedback, both via email and by means of this forum.

So, I am sorry that I had to correct you in such a public way but you were not exactly tactful with your unfounded statement in the post just above..

The supergun repository can put the pictures of Uberia superguns where they like, I am just grateful that they have them on their site at all.

Again, I am sorry to correct you in such a public way but this kind of behaviour can only start silly rumours in the long run and I would like to nip this in the bud as soon as possible. I mean no disrespect.

Regards,
Paul.

OK Thrall, I will contact you by means of email since I do not intend to conduct peoples personal business on a public forum.

Obviously people have their opinions and people are entitled to their opinions, of course. But pardon me for being pedantic, someone making the statement "Uberia is NOT a real business" is not someone who is giving their opinion. I am not taking it harshly, I just felt that - in the interests of Uberia - I had to present the facts in my previous post.

Regards,
Paul.

I was not saying that you said anything about the quality of our products and yes I have seen you point people in our direction, thankyou. The statement in your last post was my concern.

Lets not bring kernow into this.

Paul.

Look supergoose, what I meant was that your statement above does not involve kernow. Wether or not kernow made some big song and dance about Uberia being a "real business" or not in the past is nothing to do with this. You made the statement, it was wrong and that is that.. That was all I came to say. I think you are just agitated now.

Paul.

I was informed by Paul, via email, that they will no longer be offering JROK anymore due to price and shipping problems (JROK does not ship from the US to the UK)
