Hello,

I have two ST-V board that do not work because they are missing a small part that plugs just liek a cartridge in one of the slots on top of the board.

Anyone knows what this "key"/"part" is and what it is supposed to do?

And most importantly where can I find replacement?

Thank you.

I'm not an ST-V expert, but I was looking at the schematics a while back, and from what I can tell all the key does is jumper a few pins to tell the main PCB that an expansion board is not installed. My board would not power up without the key. I have no clue where to get a spare one. You could probably make one.

100% right here... It's just a terminator block for the expansion port... hmmm, I am guessing you could make one... If I get a chance this weekend I will pull my machine away from the wall and snap a shot of the terminator... it may help you make one.

Edit: Just remembered... I have the expansion board on mine (I traded up to it from my old US board without it), not the terminator... someone here should have pictures or info though!

Looking at my terminator I see the number 171-6985B on the soler side and numbers 839-0724, excn2 and e91964 340 on the parts side. Just looking at it doesn't come up with which pins to bridge though.

EDIT:
Looking at the board from the parts side, jamma connector against you it's suposed to sit on the bottom left slot. Just one is needed

When I saw this post I was like,,Uh,Oh!!

I went and checked the US board I just got..It has the one board that is in the ..(I don't know what they are) spots/slots..

I haven't received the Japanese board I bought yet,but I wonder if it has this same "key"/"part"..
I'll take some pics of the board later on tonight..(late)

I'll take a picture tomorrow of my board....

The pics that you see belonging to FINKL are of a STV board with the expansion board..(I'm pretty sure)(I'm new to this)

I don't have that expansion board on my STV..I have a small board that fits into one of the 4 expansion slots..like a key..

I can ask one guy I know if he has any...Not sure if he will though..
I'll read what that key says..and post it..if it says anything..

Tomorrow I'm going to plug the board into my cab..
So I'll do all this at the same time.

EDIT..
If you look at the pics in FINKL thread..the Key/mini board looks like one end of the expansion board..
The ends with all the soldering..
It's like they cut the ends off an expansion board..

the video jacks are for those photo editing machines, where you could take a shot of yourself and add a frame etc, then print it out.
they are inputs, not outputs.

If toy look below the cartridge you will see a row of two white expansion ports...below that is another row...on the left side of the second row is the terminator.

Is it called "terminator"? Is that the name of that Chip/key?

no terminating is an electrical term...it is its function. It basically tells the board not to use the expansion ports.

I pulled mine off the board and it has the following parts numbers:

E91964 64210

&

839-0724

Ack, stupid me, didn't think of that.

Why so many inputs, though?

Ok..I put the US STV mother board in my cab...on top of the 4 slot with the carts out/covered up..

Powered it up and it turned on...sweet..
STV,x005.jpg

I couldn't get a picture taken without that waving line that the Camera catches..(damn it)
The game looks great on screen..

I played Winter Heat for awhile,it's not a bad game at all.
(lol)..I kept pressing player one start and nothing was happening..I'm so used to the cab being on Free Play that I forgot to give myself credits..:tickled:

I didn't try any other games yet, because I need to find out how to lower the volume on the board..
It was loud, man it was loud..

I bought a manual for this board that's still in the mail so I can't find this info I need yet,If it's even in the manual.
A link to a site explaining this info would be nice though..Anyone..?

Here's the board..
STV,x008.jpg

The main thing I need to know is how to lower the volume..
:help:

I also would like to know what's the optimum power supply voltage/range to run these boards.

Okay see that big black block in the lower left?

Directly to the right of that should be a pot...it should have a little philips head screwdriver slot in it to turn it...that is your volume.

Thank You so much RevQuixo..

You might want to get a Japanese bios for the board too or even better, a switchable bios. Many games are bound to their region and games such as Radiant Silvergun have been dumbed down. They removed the third button so you only have three weapons instead of seven, you can't get the dogs etc. There was someone selling the bios for $45, it has a little switch on it which you flip to change region.

The switchable bios is a great idea..
