My SS4 cart boots most of the time with no sound. I cleaned the contacts, still won't load the sound most of the time. But when I take the PCBs out of the case and stick them in the slots they work perfectly. I've tried them at different angles and depths in the slots, boot perfectly all the time. Put them back in the case, no sound. :spock:

My guess is that there is some warping or some curving of the bottom plastic piece. This is pushing the board away at an odd angle and causing the pins to not touch correctly. Try getting a hold of a cheap game ($5 SS1 on ebay or etc) and swaping out the shell... or if you have a dead game you can give it a wirl. I have a bootleg KOF95 I think laying around somewhere I could give you for shipping if you can't find something else... though, I will have to dig for it!

I've got a Ninja Combat I never play. I'll try swapping the case with that.

I agree with Nick..

I have a problem like this with a Bomberman cart..
I had to clip off a bit of the inner taps so the boards would go in better..
I was leaving out the two screws near the connectors end out..

Check to see if the boards are warping when you tighten down on the screws closing the case..
Try not tightening them fully and see what happens..

When you tighten the screws and if they feel spongy the boards are warping..
You may be able to see a warp in the boards if you place a ruler up/next to the coonectors end before and after you put the cart back together.
